We are currently holding our annual Pick A Date Calendar Fundraiser to raise money for various StuCo activities. The money raised will help us attend Summer Leadership Workshop and Middle Level Conference as well as host activities at MJHS such as Red Ribbon Week and our Teacher Appreciation Luncheon. These and other activities allow us to continue to be a Sweepstakes winning council while positively impacting our school and community. If you are interested in purchasing a date and helping us reach our goal, please let us know. You may also contact one of our advisors, Ms. Jasmine Johnson or Mrs. Krissy Tatum.

Giselle Aparicio (8th grader) recently represented Marshall Junior High School at the Texas Association of Student Councils (TASC) State Steering Committee Retreat in New Braunfels, Texas. Giselle was one of 6 middle school students alongside the 25 high school students in attendance from across the state. She participated in various leadership activities including public speaking sessions and etiquette for leaders, and determining the TASC_StuCo state project. TASC is comprised of 21 districts with three being middle level only. Giselle attended the retreat as the 2025-2026 District 4/19 President School Student Representative. Ms. Jasmine Johnson attended the retreat in 3 different roles, District 4/19 President School Advisor, District 4/19 Coordinator, and Middle Advisor on the TASC Board of Directors.

Upon leaving the State Steering Retreat, Giselle and Ms. Johnson met other StuCo members at Trinity University in San Antonio for the TASC Summer Leadership Workshop. Five of the nine MJHS StuCo delegates were elected to leadership positions in their small groups. Giselle Aparicio and Camarion Parish were elected as Vice Presidents of their respective small groups. Calee Dukes was elected her group's Secretary, Carter Calderon was treasurer of his small group, and Addison Blackshire served as her group's Creator or project lead. Other MJHS StuCo members attending the camp were Camron Cook, Arianna Griffith, Morgan Hurd, and Morgan Love. They were accompanied by Ms. A'Laun Crosby and Ms. Merriah Jackson. MJHS Student Council is excited for the upcoming year and can't wait to share what they've learned.

The TASC Annual Conference with these four young men was an experience to remember. They made memories and met new friends. They used their leadership skills to teach others and come out of their comfort zone to accept our awards on stage in front of thousands. They even talked us into riding rides at Six Flags and allowed them to stay until closing time! These boys have a bright future ahead of them, and we can't wait to see where their purpose leads them.

We're enjoying the TASC_StuCo Annual Conference.
