Our delegates from Barnstable attended the 2026 Massachusetts Democratic Convention this past weekend and felt inspired from the energy in the room. Here are results and a message from our Massachusetts Democratic Party Chair Steve Kerrigan.
"We are thrilled to announce the candidates who received the endorsement of the Massachusetts Democratic Party in their respective races:

Governor: Maura Healey
Lieutenant Governor: Kim Driscoll
Attorney General: Andrea Joy Campbell
Auditor: Diana DiZoglio
Treasurer: Deborah B. Goldberg
Secretary of State: William F. Galvin

We are also pleased to announce that in the race for Massachusetts Senator, Senator Ed Markey received 72.94 percent of the delegate vote, and Congressman Seth Moulton received 27.06 percent of the delegate vote. Both will appear on the primary ballot this September.
Senator Markey received the official Convention endorsement after receiving greater than 50 percent of the delegate vote.

Though the Convention has passed, our work does not end here. We encourage everyone to get involved, continue organizing and mobilizing to push our party along into a brighter future. Stay engaged and stay determined.

The first night of the Massachusetts Democratic Convention and we are off to a great start! Over 5000 delegates from across the state are here to nominate our candidates, be inspired and get busy to help elect candidates who will serve the people of Massachusetts. Many hopeful messages and a call to action.

Cape Cod’s biggest regional challenges were front and center at Wednesday’s Barnstable County Commissioners meeting in Yarmouth.

The meeting was part of Barnstable County’s “Meetings in the Community” initiative, which brings one Commissioners meeting each month to a different Cape Cod town to encourage regional collaboration and allow residents and local officials to participate more directly in discussions affecting their communities.

Discussions included:
• wastewater infrastructure and water quality
• impacts of long-term construction on local businesses
• coastal resiliency and marsh restoration
• online scams targeting seniors
• planning for the Cape’s aging population
• housing, open space, and redevelopment pressures
• state lottery aid distribution formulas

One projection discussed during the meeting: by 2030, nearly half of Cape Cod’s population is expected to be age 60 or older.

Town leaders, regional officials, and County departments participated in conversations about issues affecting communities across Cape Cod.
