Per ACSD: '“The Essential Plan” accounts for the safe removal of the structures impacted by the plan. To make way for modern facilities, the century-old Craddock Elementary and the existing bus garage will be demolished. Because of the age of these buildings, the process includes environmental abatement to handle any hazardous materials that must be removed by specialists under state and federal safety laws before new construction begins.

The plan accounts for the approximately $1.8 million in demolition costs for Craddock Elementary and $126,000 for the existing bus garage. These figures reflect the complete lifecycle of the project, ensuring that the ground is prepared responsibly and safely for the next generation of Greenmen.'

The Essentials Plan: Cost of Demolition and Abatement

The Citizens Committee for Quality Schools is sharing information from Video #11 in ACSD’s Essentials Plan series.

The Essentials Plan includes the safe removal of structures impacted by the project. This includes the century old Craddock Elementary building and the existing bus garage. Because of the age of these buildings, demolition also requires environmental abatement so that any hazardous materials are handled by trained specialists in compliance with state and federal safety requirements.

The Citizens Committee for Quality Schools thanks everyone who attended the ACSD hosted community nights to learn more about the necessity of the Essentials Plan Bond.

We are grateful for the thoughtful questions, careful listening, and strong community engagement.
