While our mayor defunds the City’s schools, other municipal leaders are advocating for their cities in Hartford.

For years the City worked with the board of education to advocate for reform to the funding formula that the State uses because that formula fails to provide ansonia students with fair and equal funding. Unfortunately, the current mayor has done nothing to advocate for our schools and our students.

Municipalities across the state (not our city leadership though...) have been pounding on the State lawmakers' doors to try to get them to take up legislation to fairly fund schools. But what do CT lawmakers see as an "emergency” instead? Requiring that people who go return bottles show their IDs.

You can't make this up, folks. The SAME PARTY that says certian demographics are either not smart enough, or not educated enough to obtain an ID, and therefore no one should be required to show an ID when they exercise the right to vote, passed EMERGENCY legislation - senate bill 299- saying that from now until evermore, IDs are REQUIRED to recycle.

There are no words for this insane level of hipocrisy. This "emergency" took less than a month to go from idea to law. Our schools have been short changed for THREE DECADES! Where is the real emergency?

Let me get this straight- last year the state lawmakers said that bonding hundreds of MILLIONS to give everyone a $15 a month discount on energy (ie just making it so you’re paying this money back in taxes for generations to come) was ‘relief.’

And this year we are just increasing the cost of energy again…

Anyone sick and tired of this hamster wheel?!

Connecticut lawmakers say they want to address "climate resilience." But a new proposal could end up raising your electric bill.

Each budget under the Cassetti administration prioritized the city’s schools. Unfortunately the current Ansonia Mayor has proposed a budget that cuts the board of education’s budget request by nearly $1 million- close to 3% of their 26/27 budget, which will be devastating for our City’s youth.

Is this what the residents want? An administration that turns its back on its schools and students?

The schools have already eliminated 8 administrators- and now need to eliminate additional positions. All the while the mayor has added several full time positions to city hall’s staff- with new salaries and new benefits that need to be funded. Perhaps that money should have instead been allocated to help the BOE keep necessary programs.

AFFORDABILITY: Democrats in the House today voted against exempting state taxes on tips & overtime, leaving Connecticut families waiting for real relief.

First responders, service industry workers, healthcare professionals, who are trying to put food on their tables and heat their homes, will just have to wait.

Will our state rep, who improperly put $5k in her pocket and another $1k in her political action committee's coffers be paying back the taxpayers for pocketing COVID money paid to her by DiMassa?
“[DiMassa] said he also slept with Kara Rochelle, a state Democratic lawmaker from Ansonia, who was paid $5,000 out of the city’s bank accounts ...” quote from article published in the CT Mirror, linked in comments.
Taking money that doesnt belong to you is wrong - no matter what party you are affilated with.

Michael DiMassa was one of four people convicted in schemes to steal federal CARES Act funds from the city of West Haven.
