We are thrilled about the speaker line up for the Women in Law Conference next month!

Our Mona Salyer Lambird Spotlight Awards luncheon keynote speaker is Lilly Ledbetter. Ms. Ledbetter won a multi-million dollar jury verdict in her pay discrimination case that was eventually overturned by the United States Supreme Court. Despite this setback, she continued the fight against gnder pay discrimination and in 2009, the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act was passed.

In addition to Ms. Ledbetter, conference attendees will hear from a panel of Oklahoma Judges, OU Law Dean Katheleen Guzman, TU Law Professor Sarah Cravens, Rhiannon Baker, Stacy Acord & Katherine Mazaheri.

The attendees will receive 6 credit hours, including one hour of ethics, on a variety of topics including the way gender plays a role in attorney misconduct and discipline, how to market yourself to your clients and within your organization, and much more!

Speaker Spotlight Series - Day Four.

The morning session of the Women in Law Conference will conclude with a presentation by Tulsa attorney, Rhiannon K. Baker.

Ms. Baker is a 2009 graduate of the University of Tulsa College of Law, with highest honors. After practicing civil litigation for 13 years, she recently made the switch over to elder law and estate planning. She practices in the Tulsa area and is also licensed in Iowa and Minnesota. She has a passion for mental health and victims’ rights advocacy.

We are so excited to hear Ms. Baker’s presentation entitled “Mental Health Matters”!

Speaker Spotlight Series - Day One.

We are so excited to host keynote speaker, Lily Ledbetter, this year!

For 10 years, Lilly Ledbetter fought to close the gap between women’s and men’s wages, sparring with the Supreme Court, lobbying Capitol Hill in a historic discrimination case against Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company.

Ledbetter won a jury verdict of more than $3 million after having filed a gender pay discrimination suit in federal court, but the U.S. Supreme Court later overturned the lower court’s ruling. Despite her defeat Ledbetter continued her fight until the Supreme Court decision was nullified when President Obama, on January 29, 2009, signed into law the first new law of his administration: the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act.
