The club participates in NFRW's programs and projects, such as the Mamie Eisenhower Library Project, The Barbara Bush Literacy Program, and Caring for America. Each September we provide a third grade class with Thesaurus and in May we donate books to second graders for them to take home over the summer. We provide funds to send members to State and Central Division workshops and leadership trainin

This morning, my Hanford office was vandalized by anti-Israel protestors. I strongly support the right to peaceful protest, but violence and vandalism are never acceptable. In a democracy, harassment and intimidation is not how you make your voice heard.

If these protestors truly cared about Palestinian children they would also support the eradication of Hamas terrorists, who are actively using Palestinian hospitals and schools as cover for their military operations and putting thousands of Palestinian civilians at risk.

My office remains open and accessible for constituents in the 22nd Congressional District by appointment, phone, email, or mail who want to share their views.

Ronnie Schaefer, an elections consultant, told the California Globe that the bill will likely be challenged in court. "We’re going to see a challenge soon, likely with some sort of add-on saying that they want the bill blocked as the suit goes through the legal system. If that does happen, we’ll likely see hand counts continue until at least the 2024 primary in March," he said.

The bill 'ensures that no California voter will be disenfranchised by the actions and decisions of ill-informed political actors,' its sponsor said.

On September 18, 1947, Chief Justice Fred Vinson swore in Stuart Symington as the first secretary of the air force, officially founding a new branch of the U.S. military. Gen. Carl A. Spaatz became the USAF’s first chief of staff eight days later on September 26, 1947.

Today, September 17th, is US Constitution Day. On September 17, 1787 the final draft of the US Constitution was signed by the delegates to the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia.

The Constitution officially became the law of the land on June 21, 1788, when New Hampshire became the ninth state to ratify the document.

At a time when the sovereignty of nations was vested in Kings, Emperors, Czars, Shoguns, Despots and Dictators, America did something revolutionary. We placed the sovereignty of the United States - who rules - in the hands of “We the People.”

In order to safeguard our freedoms from the tyranny of out-of-control government, they separated our government into three co-equal parts: Executive; Legislative; and Judicial.

In High School, I was required to take a class on the US Constitution as a requirement for graduation. My history teacher was mesmerizing. I sat in his classroom transfixed on the majesty of the Constitution, our Founders perseverance and tenacity, and their genius in crafting the most copied Constitution on the planet.

I learned that the foundation of our Constitution was laid out in the Preamble of the Declaration of Independence:

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.”

Powerful, poetic language that asserted our rights came from God, not government; that they could not be taken away, nor even given away. They were ours as a gift of our Creator, and that our new government would be formed by the consent of the People, and preserved and protected by them.

From that poetry came the prose that set out the contract of our liberty: the US Constitution. That parchment document was given life on that September 17th so long ago. It was kept alive through the generations by its Guardians and Sentinels: We the People.

May it ever be so. Happy Constitution Day.
