The New Teacher Conference ~ Day 2

Day 2 of the New Teacher Conference at the nationally renowned Ron Clark Academy was filled with innovative instructional strategies, engaging teaching methods, and meaningful classroom observations. Our P.A.C.E. Academy teachers are already planning how to incorporate these exciting new techniques into their classrooms!

Exciting things are happening at the Accelerated Achievers Academy at Sumter County Elementary School!

Through their agriculture class with Mr. Brock, our scholars are gaining meaningful, hands-on learning experiences. Pictured is the beginning of an upcoming koi fish pond, where students will witness and participate in the entire process—from development and cleaning to upkeep, maintenance, and monitoring the koi fish.

We are excited to provide opportunities that bring learning to life, build responsibility, and expose our scholars to agriculture and environmental science.

Great things are happening at the Achievers Academy! We’re on our way UP! 🐟🌱🐾

September Birthday Celebration!

Sumter County Schools wishes a HAPPY BIRTHDAY to all of our employees celebrating a birthday this September!

Today, we celebrated one of our Central Office birthday honorees, Mrs. Kimberly Herrin, School Nutrition Bookkeeper, with cake and punch!

And isn’t it nifty that Mrs. Herrin is FIFTY?!

Please join us in wishing Mrs. Herrin a very HAPPY 50TH BIRTHDAY! May this milestone year be filled with joy, laughter, and many wonderful memories!

Building a Healthcare Pipeline for Our Students!

Today, Sumter County Schools brought together Shaquita Ingram, CTAE Department Chair; Senator Freddie Powell Sims; Mr. Darrell Sabbs of Phoebe Putney Health System; and Superintendent Jerry Sanders for a productive work session focused on developing a healthcare career pipeline in partnership with Phoebe Sumter Medical Center.

The conversation centered on creating meaningful opportunities for our students to explore healthcare careers, gain hands-on experience, earn industry-recognized credentials, and develop pathways that can lead from the classroom to careers right here in our community.

Strong partnerships between our schools, healthcare providers, community leaders, and industry are essential to preparing students for the workforce of tomorrow. Today’s work session represents another step toward creating intentional, sustainable pathways for Sumter County students to pursue careers in healthcare.

We appreciate everyone who came to the table ready to collaborate, plan, and invest in the future of our students and our community.

The future starts with the pathways we build today!

We are raising expectations, strengthening instruction, and equipping our educators with innovative strategies to inspire every scholar.

ATTENDANCE MATTERS — KNOW THE LAW

Regular school attendance is important for student success. Georgia law establishes compulsory attendance requirements for school-age children and outlines responsibilities for parents/guardians and schools.

We encourage all parents and guardians to review the attached Georgia Compulsory Attendance Law so you understand attendance expectations, notification procedures, and possible consequences associated with unexcused absences.

Our goal is to partner with families, address attendance concerns early, identify barriers, and support students in getting to school every day.

Please contact your child's school if you have questions about your child's attendance or need assistance. If your child is absent, please send in an excuse or documentation immediately when your child returns to school.

Our goal is to educate, support, and partner with families to help every student attend school regularly and be successful.
