COURTESY CALL BY GERMAN GOVERNMENT TO COUNCIL CHAIRPERSON

A delegation comprising of representatives from the German embassy and SADC paid a courtesy call to the Council Chairperson yesterday afternoon. The purpose of the visit to Kasane and the KAZA Trans Frontier Conservation Area is to appreciate projects mostly supported by German government. The team will further go on field at the Chobe Enclave to have a look at the said projects.

When welcoming the delegation Honourable Chenjekwa mentioned that most of the land in Chobe is animal territory and wildlife and human beings do co-exist with challenges. He reiterated that the tourism sector is the largest employer in the District. He urged the team to feel free to further assist where they deem possible.

Present during the proceedings were the Council Chairperson Honourable Johane Chenjekwa, the District Commissioner, Council Secretary, as well as a few government departments and stakeholders.

In the meeting it was clear that Germany has a lot of bilateral cooperation in Botswana working together with SADC in the region.
