As the true FIRST 1st responder, our Communications Officers answer emergency and non-emergency calls from the public, provide self-help instructions on the phone, while dispatching police to help.

No certification needed or prior experience required. Minimum age to apply is 18 years of age.

Gwinnett Police Profiles in Excellence: Master Police Officer Ariel Stewart

MPO Stewart was hired in 2017 and has been assigned to the South Precinct on patrol since completing training. She is currently the Community Relations officer for South Precinct, tracking crime trends and statistics, while directing resources in the community. She also coordinates communication between precincts, other jurisdictions, and investigators to track crime.

Stewart is a certified police instructor that assists at the Training Academy with occasional courses and defensive tactics. She’s also a certified Krav Maga instructor with her own self-defense school focused on helping women who are victims of domestic violence. She’s a certified trauma support specialist and recently created training for the department to help educate officers about how trauma affects their mental and physical health.
