Trekking in the maple season in Bach Ma forest—Hue
Bach Ma Mountain, part of Bach Ma National Park (Thua Thien Hue province), is one of the most attractive destinations for those who love nature and trekking. However, it is important to choose suitable transport to access the rice-viewing spots. Mù Cang Chải is currently in its peak rice harvest season, with favorable weather and full services available for visitors. According to Giàng A Chay, a local guide, tourists started arriving from September 15 after a brief pause caused by Typhoon Yagi. Popular spots such as Móng Ngựa and Mâm Xôi hills have attracted both local and international photographers, particularly on weekends. This year is quieter compared to previous years, offering better opportunities for visitors to capture stunning photos.

Although it has been raining in the area, the weather clears up during the day, so the tours are generally not affected. However, some roads, especially dirt paths, may become slippery and more difficult to navigate. Visitors from Hanoi have noted that the mixed weather of sun and rain can make traveling to certain sightseeing spots challenging due to muddy roads and minor landslides. Travel forums suggest maintaining original itineraries but with a flexible mindset, as road conditions could hinder the full experience.

For those interested in adventure, paragliding is available through the event "Flying Over the Golden Season 2024," running from early September to late October. Flights start from Khau Phạ Pass, with prices at 2,190,000 VND on weekdays and 2,590,000 VND on weekends. For accommodation, many homestays and resorts still have availability, with prices ranging from 300,000 VND to 1.5 million VND per night, while luxury options can reach up to 3 million VND per night.

Within Mù Cang Chải, tourists can choose to travel by motorbike taxis, which cost between 500,000-600,000 VND per day. Experienced riders can also rent motorbikes for self-driving. Entry fees to popular sightseeing spots range from 10,000 to 30,000 VND, and it is advisable to carry cash, as some services do not accept electronic payments. For those traveling from Hanoi, buses are available, with an 8-hour journey to reach Mù Cang Chải.

Tân Hóa, in Minh Hóa District, Quảng Bình Province, known as the "flood center," is compared to a giant water basin. Due to its low-lying terrain, surrounded on three sides by high mountains, all water sources converge here, with the only outlet being a narrow mountain cave. By the afternoon of September 20th, nearly 430 houses in the area were submerged by 0.5 to 1.5 meters of water.

In previous years, during each flood season, locals had to take refuge in the mountains. When they returned, all their possessions and crops had been washed away, making life difficult and forcing them to rely on donations and support from various organizations and individuals across the country.

After the historic flood of 2010, in 2011, the residents of Tân Hóa came up with the idea of building floating rafts to "live with the floods."

Learning from the experience of building rafts to avoid floods, by 2014, floating house models had been gradually improved and supplemented with suitable techniques to ensure safety, becoming the optimal choice for people in Tân Hóa’s flood-prone areas.

“When warned about an incoming flood, we move our belongings and assets onto the floating house for storage. Then, we stock up on food and water for about 10-15 days. When the water reaches the edge of the yard, the whole family moves onto the floating house to live. As the water rises, the house floats along, so we feel very secure," said Đinh Thị Thu, a local resident.

According to Thu, people live on the floating house just as they would in their main home. When the water recedes, it leaves behind a large amount of fertile silt, making farming easier. Additionally, the floating houses also serve as homestays, where tourists can stay even during flood days.

😓 Desolation After Prolonged Storms at the Long Bien Bridge's Riverside Neighborhood

The settlement under the Long Bien Bridge (located behind the Long Bien fruit market, Ba Dinh District, Hanoi) has existed for many years, housing more than 30 families. Most of the residents here are migrant laborers from other provinces, coming to Hanoi to make a living.

A week ago, the Red River's floodwaters rose to a record level, reaching close to alarm level 3 (around 11.5m), causing much of the neighborhood to be submerged, with many rooms flooded over 2 meters, forcing residents to evacuate to safer areas.

In the past three days, the water has receded, and people have begun returning to their homes. However, the scene has become desolate, with trash scattered everywhere.

After the water subsided, the impoverished residents of the riverside neighborhood under the Long Bien Bridge were left living in moldy rooms without electricity, water, and with countless other shortages. Life, already challenging, has now become even more difficult. The storm left behind severe damage to their property and belongings.

Forecasts predict that within the next 24-48 hours, the storm will make landfall and gradually weaken.
