ABS 2026 – Adaptive Biometric Systems Workshop
In conjunction with AVSS 2026

We are pleased to announce ABS 2026, a half-day workshop dedicated to population-aware biometrics across visual, physiological, and behavioral modalities.

The workshop focuses on moving beyond “average-user” biometric pipelines toward adaptive systems designed for diverse real-world users, conditions, and operational constraints.

ABS 2026 welcomes contributions on topics including adaptive biometric modeling, multimodal fusion, benchmarking, bias and failure analysis, and real-world deployment across face, gait, person re-identification, ECG, EEG, inertial, and wearable data.

MDB2026 | Ethical Video Analytics in the Wild: Methods, Datasets and Benchmarks

As part of AVSS 2026, the MDB2026 workshop will focus on robust, responsible, and ethical video analytics solutions designed to operate effectively in real-world, unconstrained environments.

The workshop aims to bridge the gap between controlled research settings and complex “in the wild” scenarios, encouraging contributions on video understanding, object detection, multi-target and multi-camera tracking, re-identification, activity and behavior analysis, anomaly detection, environmental monitoring, and real-world applications.

MDB2026 will also foster discussion on key aspects of trustworthy AI, including fairness, transparency, privacy preservation, accountability, reproducibility, scalability, and ethical compliance in video analytics systems.

ISM-AVSS 2026 — Intelligent Surveillance and Monitoring Systems AI Across Distributed and Multimodal Environments

AI4Nature: Computer Vision and AI for Environmental Monitoring, Biodiversity Analysis, and Ecosystem Restoration @ AVSS 2026

The second challenge of AVSS 2026 is Crime Detection Challenge 2026 (CDC26).

The challenge focuses on the detection of crime events in real-world surveillance videos, a task that remains highly challenging due to scene variability, occlusions, viewpoint changes, and heterogeneous video quality.

Despite advances in video analytics, reliably identifying rare and diverse anomalous events in mostly normal video streams is still an open problem. Models often struggle to generalize, leading to false alarms or missed detections when conditions differ from training data.

CDC26 addresses these challenges by providing a balanced, real-world dataset with precise temporal annotations, designed to evaluate methods under realistic conditions. Participants are invited to develop models capable of detecting crime events and identifying the moment in which they occur.

The evaluation framework rewards not only accuracy, but also robustness and generalization, encouraging approaches that can operate reliably in real surveillance scenarios.

We are pleased to introduce the Automatic Incident Detection Challenge 2026 (AID2026), one of the official challenges of AVSS 2026.

The challenge addresses a key open problem in computer vision: the reliable detection of accidents and anomalies in road traffic videos under real-world conditions. Despite the progress made in video understanding, this task remains particularly challenging, especially in large-scale monitoring scenarios.

One of the main limitations in current research is the lack of datasets specifically designed for fixed surveillance cameras. Most available datasets are based on dashcam recordings, providing an ego-centric view that does not reflect how traffic is typically monitored in real-world systems.

AID2026 tackles this issue by introducing a carefully designed dataset of 2,556 real traffic videos, captured in real environments and annotated with precise temporal information about incident events. Alongside the dataset, the challenge provides a standardized evaluation protocol tailored to real-time deployment, encouraging solutions that are not only accurate, but also timely and computationally efficient.

Participants are invited to develop robust models capable of detecting road incidents from surveillance cameras, contributing to a common benchmark that aims to advance research in traffic safety and automated monitoring.
