The Support Committee regrets the need to cancel the ceremony that had been planned for Veterans Day 2025. Our national cemeteries are shrines to our nation’s heroes and there is special meaning in holding these ceremonies on those sacred grounds. However, the most important thing to all of us is that Veterans receive the tributes they have earned through service and sacrifice, so we wanted to communicate the cancellation as broadly as possible so the Calverton National Cemetery community could make plans to pay their respects to Veterans in other ways on this very meaningful holiday.

Calverton National Cemetery Veterans Day Ceremony 2025 Cancelled: It is with great regret that we announce that due to the ongoing federal government funding lapse, it is necessary to cancel the 2025 Veterans Day Ceremony previously planned for Calverton National Cemetery. At this juncture, even if the lapse in appropriations ended imminently the cemetery would no longer have the time necessary to prepare the grounds and procure the necessary assets to conduct a proper ceremony. We are sorry to miss an opportunity to come together on Veterans Day to express our heartfelt gratitude to our nation’s Veterans for their service and sacrifice. We hope you all find a meaningful way to pay tribute to our Veterans on November 11, 2025, and hope to see you on May 25, 2026, for our Memorial Day Ceremony. In the meantime, the cemetery remains open to visitors during daylight hours, and we will continue to honor and thank our Veterans every day in every way we can!

Veterans Day Ceremony Update: The ceremony planned to be held at the Calverton National Cemetery assembly area on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. to honor all who have served in the Armed Forces of the United States for their courage, service, and sacrifice for our country is contingent upon the status of the federal government shutdown. We will continue to update social media to keep you apprised of the status of our Veterans Day Ceremony.

The Support Committee for Calverton National Cemetery would like to invite all Vietnam Veterans, and their families, to the National Vietnam War Veterans Day Commemoration Ceremony at Calverton on Saturday, March 29th starting at 9:30 a.m.

This ceremony was pushed up from 10:00 a.m. to accommodate Suffolk County's ceremony in Hauppauge, which will start at 11:30 a.m.

If you are a Vietnam Veteran, or know one, please let them know of this event and encourage them to attend.
Attendees can RSVP with me so the Committee can alert the Cemetery staff to set up an adequate number of chairs.

The 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War Commemoration recognizes Vietnam Veterans for their service. Calverton National Cemetery is proud to be a commemorative partner. March 29 is designated as National Vietnam War Veterans Day. The date marks the point when the last U.S. troops left South Vietnam, ending America’s direct military involvement in 1973. A wreath-laying ceremony will be held at Calverton National Cemetery’s Vietnam Memorial on March 29 at 9:30 a.m. to honor the service of our Vietnam Veterans. The memorial is on the corner of Princeton Boulevard and Calverton Drive. Complementary commemorative items will be available. Our deepest gratitude to our Vietnam War Veterans for their service and sacrifice. Vietnam Veterans who cannot attend may receive a Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pin by contacting our office at 631-727-5410 and providing a current mailing address.

Good morning,

As a way to give back to our local hero's, Legislator Chad Lennon and our office would like to pay special attention to the veterans in our community.

Over the next few weeks our office will once again be collecting Valentine's Day Cards that will be delivered to Veterans and Active-Duty Military Personnel on Long Island and overseas.

We would love if you could assist us in collecting valentines.

We will be collecting the Valentine's Cards until Friday February 7th 2025.

Our legislative office will serve as a drop off point which is located at-
745 Route 25-A , Suite D, Rocky Point, 11778

We can also schedule a pickup if that is more convenient for you.

Thank you to the many Wreaths Across America (WAA) volunteers who placed approximately 15,000 wreaths at Calverton National Cemetery today. Sections 14, 19, 28, 42 and 55 were decorated by WAA volunteers to honor the service and sacrifice of Veterans. Wreath pickup is January 18, 2025.

Wreaths Across America (WAA) will be hosted at Calverton National Cemetery on Saturday, December 14. The Support Committee for Calverton National Cemetery is coordinating the WAA event: https://calvertonsupport.com/events/wreaths-across-america-day/.

Thank you to the committee and to our volunteers for every effort to honor the service and sacrifice of Veterans. Wreath placement will begin at 9:00 a.m. – volunteers are asked to adhere to times assigned by event coordinators to help reduce traffic backups. Sections to be decorated are 19 and 28. Wreaths will be staged in those sections for the volunteers to place. We ask volunteers to stay mindful of ensuring that wreaths are not placed on headstones and markers with the Star of David emblem of belief unless specifically requested by the families.

Other Veterans and families who do not wish a wreath to be placed on their loved one’s gravesite may contact our office to be placed on an exception list. Wreaths purchased by the public for placement on a specific gravesite may be picked up on the west side of Section 8 for placement as desired. Wreath pickup is January 18, 2025.
