🚨 EXCITING SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY 🚨

This year, we're proud to sponsor the TechPoint Youth High School Senior Scholarship at the Women & Hi Tech Leading Light Awards Gala.

This $2,000 scholarship will be awarded to a female high school senior entering an Indiana college or university to study a STEM field.

Supporting young women in STEM is close to our hearts and central to our mission, and this scholarship is a reflection of that. The incredible women leading TechPoint Youth today once took a very similar leap, choosing to pursue this future before they knew exactly where it would lead. We want to make that step a little easier for the next girl who's ready to take it.

Applications are due July 3rd!

Meet Noah Dropsey, TechPoint Youth's summer intern! 🤖

Noah is a fantastic example of our mission. He has been building robots since elementary school, where one of his earliest coaches was our very own Jamie Inskeep!

This summer, Noah will support a variety of operational, programmatic, and donor engagement projects across the organization, including preparing technology donations, supporting program implementation and trainings, and assisting with donor stewardship and data management.

In the fall, he'll be heading into his third year at Purdue University studying Aerospace Engineering. We're excited to watch him thrive this summer while he takes the next step toward his career in STEM.

Help us give him a warm welcome! 👏

Not every student sees themselves in STEM, but early exposure can change that. 🌟

Research shows that students who engage in STEM activities before high school are more likely to pursue STEM degrees. And scholarships and financial support for underrepresented groups have been linked to a 40% increase in college enrollment and graduation rates in STEM fields. The data makes it clear that access matters.

That's why TechPoint Youth created the STEM for All Grant, to get robotics into the hands of students who might not otherwise have the chance and to change the landscape of STEM careers in Indiana.

If your school or organization already has an active robotics team, you can apply to start an additional team made up of at least 50% girls, students of color, or economically disadvantaged students.

To be eligible, you'll need to:
✔ Be an Indiana K-12 school or nonprofit
✔ Already have at least one active robotics team
✔ Participate in at least one competition in the 2026-27 season

Every student deserves a seat at the table. This grant helps make that possible.

✨ May Volunteer Spotlight✨

Will Baud has become a powerful force for inspiration in our STEM programming, bringing real-world expertise and genuine enthusiasm into the classroom at Harney Elementary School. A chemical engineer at the Eli Lilly plant in Lebanon, Will first connected with TechPoint Youth about a year ago. He quickly expanded his impact by helping recruit six additional volunteers to serve as mentors in the Lebanon Community School Corporation.

As his host teacher, Matt Farrell, shared:

"Will is an exceptional addition to Harney Elementary. His positive demeanor and strong professional expertise encourage students to engage fully and embrace new learning opportunities. Through his dedication, volunteerism, and passion for education, he inspires the entire school community to strive for excellence and reach their highest potential."

When Will walks into a room, the energy shifts immediately. Students become excited and eager to share their ideas. During one of his mentoring sessions, he checked on students’ progress in a real-world challenge he introduced earlier in the semester. As they worked, moments of discovery filled the room:

“Oh! This needs to happen for me to meet the criteria!”
“OOOHHHH… that’s why I needed to know this!”

Will used these moments to connect their ideas to the science behind the challenge, helping students understand concepts such as pressure, temperature, and chemical mixing.

Through his dedication and leadership, Will is helping students see what is possible and bringing STEM learning to life.

We are thrilled to announce that Brei Cecil-Satchwell is officially returning to TechPoint Youth as our new Chief Operating Officer. We couldn't be more excited to welcome her home.

Brei's legacy with this organization began 10 years ago when she joined as Grant and Fund Manager. She was foundational in building TechPoint Youth into what it is today. After rising to Vice President of Foundation Operations she grew our statewide programming, strengthened our financial foundation, and helped Indiana's robotics initiative become one of the largest programs of its kind in the country.

After stepping away to be present for her family and pour her expertise into her own work, she is back. Brei will help lead TechPoint Youth into its next chapter, anchoring the operations and building the sustainable foundation that will carry this mission forward for years to come.

Please join us in welcoming Brei home. 💙

The next great robotics team in Indiana is waiting for their coach to take the first step. 🤖

You don't need a robotics background to do it. In fact, 92% of our first-year robotics coaches have zero prior experience.

After-school robotics is different from anything else students do during the day. Kids choose to be there. They show up, work through hard problems together, and compete. Somewhere along the way, they find their people, and more than a few find a passion that points them toward a future in STEM.

TechPoint Youth after-school robotics grants are open now for Indiana educators at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. If your school doesn't already have a team, you're eligible to apply.

The grant covers a competition robot kit, field and game elements, team registration, and free training and support. Everything you need to get started.

Your students could be competing this upcoming school year. Apply at the link in the comments. 👇

JOIN OUR STEM MENTORS VOLUNTEER NETWORK!

For the last three years, engineer Luke Labus has spent his free time changing student lives by volunteering in elementary school classrooms. 🍎

As a TechPoint Youth STEM Mentor, Luke is part of a program that brings professionals directly into K-12 classrooms across Indiana, giving students a chance to connect what they're learning to the world outside their textbooks.

Every few weeks, you'll find him helping kids build robots, work through coding challenges, and think like engineers. He turns concepts that can feel abstract into something students can actually get their hands on.

The difference a volunteer makes in a classroom is hard to overstate. Teachers can go further. Students get more one-on-one support. And kids who might have tuned out stay curious. Whether it's a student finally figuring out why their egg drop carton failed or getting a block-retrieving robot to work, those moments of discovery don't happen in isolation. They happen because someone like Luke showed up.

You don't need to be an expert to create that kind of impact. You just need one hour a month, some patience, and a willingness to show up for students.

Join us as a STEM Mentor and help create more moments of curiosity, confidence, and discovery.
