Tonight at the Den Theatre! As a co-sponsor of this FREE community screening, we hope to see you there!

You're invited to join affiliates of the National Domestic Workers Alliance for a special Chicago community screening of How to Clean a House in 10 Easy Steps, a film by Carolina Gonzalez Valencia, winner of Best Documentary at the SF International Film Festival. The National Domestic Workers Alliance is a proud producer on the film, and we can’t wait to share it with all of you.

Beatriz Valencia, a domestic worker in the U.S. and Carolina, her daughter-filmmaker, collaborate to create the fictional character of a writer. Together, mother and daughter capture the relationship between truth and fantasy, in a hybrid documentary that tells a story about immigration, labor, dreams and the power of storytelling to heal.

We need LOTS of volunteers this Saturday! Are you in Chicago and wanting to support your community? Join our Citizenship Workshop Saturday, August 8! Roles are on the next slide and most training occurs day-of.

📌 Save the date for our October 3rd FAHM Seeding AFIRE x Baklaan! This all-day, 4-part event emphasizes q***r and trans base-building, breakout discussions, advocacy issues, and celebration. This event is also part of a research collaboration between AFIRE, FYLPRO and Tayo, and Dr. Rachel Kuo at the University of Wisconsin-Madison focused on intergenerational and diasporic-informed solidarities and political analysis. Happy Pride!

We are excited to co-host this year's Baklaan Movie Night with Circa Pintig. Join us on June 12 for a screening of the 2009 classic Filipino film "In My Life". There will be a brief program to discuss the cultural significance of this film. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets and/or pillows. SATURDAY, June 6th at 1PM - USPCN alongside HCW4P and Codepink are holding a protest demanding that the American Medical Association (AMA) call for the immediate release of Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya and all Palestinian healthcare workers detained by Israel!

As Dr. Abu Safiya’s health declines, his situation grows more dire - we must protest and demand for his freedom, as well as the freedom of all our beloved Palestinian political prisoners! Invite your family, friends, and all you know to come out to this protest and JOIN US! ✊🏽
