Baby Bald Eagle Hatches At Dulles Greenway Nest In Leesburg
A pair of bald eagles hatched their first eaglet at their nest in the Dulles Greenway on Sunday. Another egg could hatch this week.
ADOPTED! We're happy to report that Ivy has become confident fairly quickly in her furr-ever home. She has already thoroughly explored her new house, approaching family members she meets along the way. As you can see, she has won over the youngest humans in the household. Congratulations on your happily ever after! 🎉 #adoptdontshopt #fosteringsaveslives

While military dogs have worked alongside soldiers for a long time, their partnership in the U.S. military became official on March 13, 1942 when the U.S. Army started to train them for a new program called the K-9 Corps. These courageous dogs were trained for the military and continue to protect and save lives.

These dogs deserve a salute!

You may have heard the breaking mews of our partnership with Catty Corner Cafe opening in Leesburg. To make sure we have an array of amazing adoptables, our cups will soon runneth over with fantastic furry friends.
Before this becomes a cat-astrophe, we are going to need some short-term foster guardians to host our mew friends when they arrive from our partner shelters. The foster families are asked to open their homes for approximately two weeks while we make sure the cats are up-to-date on their vaccinations and tested for FIV and FeLV. It's an amazing op-purr-tunity to tip-toe into the wonderful world of fostering!
Vet costs are covered by HSLC. For more information, please visit our website here: https://humaneloudoun.org/programs/foster/fosters-needed/ or email our Foster Coordinator at [email protected].

The once common practice of declawing cats is now viewed by many as barbaric. Some call it amputation.

Introducing the mewest craze on four legs - the Candy Land Kittens!
Butterscotch, S’more, and Oreo are siblings who have added an honorary brother to their pack who fits right in - Toffee. The three are approximately 18 weeks old, with Toffee a few weeks older.
Toffee (dark orange tabby, male) is the leader of the group - he is an outgoing, playful little guy who never misses a meal! He is best buddies with Butterscotch (cream tabby, male) who loves attention and always wants to be petted. These two love a good wrestle and then snuggle up together for a catnap.
The other bonded pair in the group are Oreo (gray and white, female) and S’more (tabby, male). Oreo is a little sweetheart who is very inquisitive and loves to play. Her brother S’more is the strong silent type with mesmerizing eyes. He is more reserved than the others but once he is ready to join on the fun, he loves to play with toys and chase Oreo’s tail.
If you're looking to double your fun by adopting two kitties, please visit our website to start the application process: https://humaneloudoun.org/adopt/adoption-process/

According to data from the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, over 8,400 species of wild fauna and flora are critically endangered, while close to 30,000 more are understood to be endangered or vulnerable. Based on these estimates, it is suggested that over a million species are threatened with extinction.
This year's World Wildlife Day is focused on the need to reverse the fate of the most critically endangered species, to support the restoration of their habitats and ecosystems and to promote their sustainable use by humanity.

Meet the Friends kitties, Monica and Phoebe! Can they *BE* any cuter? Adopt them together before the end of the month while our BOGO offer is still in play! Complete an adoption application here: https://humaneloudoun.org/adopt/adoption-application/
If you've had your eyes on Wally, this sweet video just might clinch the deal! Remember, his adoption fee is waived thanks to his guardian angel! Because Wally is an FeLV+ fella, he is contagious to other cats (not to other animals or humans) and needs to be in a home with other friendly FeLV+ cats, the only cat in the household or with cats that have been vaccinated for FeLV. Won't you give this charming and handsome cat a chance? https://humaneloudoun.org/adopt/adoption-application/

ADOPTION FEES WAIVED! Who is this pretty kitty coming over to meet you? This is Misty — an independent lady who wants attention on her own terms. She likes being near her family and cuddling when she's in the mood. Misty was found as a stray. We believe she is about 3-5 years old and was probably an inside/outside cat in her previous life. Normally we require that cats adopted from us be indoor-only, but we will make an exception if we find the right family for Misty. She loves being outside with her foster mom and is a good mouser. She also comes when called. This doglike behavior might explain why she gets along with the dogs in her foster home, but does not like sharing her home with other cats. Misty is not a barn cat and would need to have access whenever she wanted to her home and family. Thanks to a generous sponsor, Misty’s adoption fees are waived. To adopt Misty, complete an application today! https://humaneloudoun.org/adopt/adoption-application/
2-for-1: Danny Boy and Reo are besties who ideally will be adopted together. Thanks to a generous sponsor, we are able to offer both cats for the price of one adoption fee if--and only if--they are adopted together. Apply for the pair now at the link below! https://humaneloudoun.org/adopt/adoption-application/ Danny Boy (3-5 years old) can be a bit shy at first but he warms up fast and becomes very affectionate once he gets comfortable. Reo (~1 year old) is a lovely young lady. She is also a bit shy at first but warms up fast and becomes very friendly and snuggly once she gets to know you.
Mr. Meow Meow grabbed a lot of attention at the Clear the Shelters adoption event recently. Sadly, despite being totally chonkalicious, he was not adopted. Needless to say, we're not giving up on this three-legged wonder! We've been sharing Mr. Meow Meow's story with you for almost six months now. And, we know his second chance is just around the corner. From his doting foster mom, "He's a great big hunk of love and needs his own furrever family that can give him all the love and attention that he deserves." If you are that furrever family, please submit an adoption application today. Mr. Meow Meow is fully sponsored so his $150 adoption fee will be waived. https://humaneloudoun.org/adopt/adoption-application/
