Today we celebrated one of our first 5th Grade Final Flight Parade! 🦉💛

Families, staff, students, and community members lined the parade route to cheer on our fifth graders as they took their final walk through Highlands Elementary before heading off to middle school. What a special way to celebrate their accomplishments, growth, friendships, and memories made along the way.

To our fifth graders: we are so proud of the leaders, communicators, risk-takers, and caring learners you have become. No matter where your next chapter takes you, you will always be part of the Highlands family.

Once an Owl, always an Owl. Wishing our fifth graders the very best as they spread their wings and soar into middle school!

What an incredible day we had yesterday celebrating HES IB Day at Highlands Elementary!

We kicked off the day with a schoolwide assembly where students explored the IB Learner Profiles and participated in a fun interactive game that challenged us all to be caring communicators. Our talented Highland Show Stoppers wowed the crowd with an amazing performance that brought energy and excitement to the celebration!

Throughout the day, students met with their Feathered Friends to proudly share their IB portfolios filled with projects, reflections, and learning experiences they have worked on all year long. It was such a meaningful opportunity for students to showcase their growth as inquirers, thinkers, communicators, and risk-takers.

To wrap up the day, our students had the opportunity to Zoom with other IB campuses from around the nation to learn more about what students love most about IB. Hearing students connect, collaborate, and share their experiences reminded us exactly what IB is all about, building a community of learners who are curious, compassionate, and globally minded.

🎓✨ Last Day of School & Final Flight Parade ✨🎓

As we close out another incredible school year at Highlands Elementary, we invite our school community to help us celebrate our amazing 5th grade students during our Final Flight Parade! 🦉💙

Our 5th graders will take one final walk around the school as we cheer them on and celebrate all they have accomplished during their elementary years. Families are welcome to line the parade route outside the building, just like we did for our Character Parade, to help send our students off with encouragement and best wishes as they prepare for middle school!

After the parade, 5th grade students will return to their classrooms for their end-of-year party beginning at 9:30 a.m. All other grade levels will begin celebrations at their assigned times.

If you plan on attending any events on Thursday, please make sure you have completed your FastPass Google Form (Sent out through ParentSquare last week) ahead of time so you can skip the line on party day.

Let’s give our 5th graders a memorable Highlands send-off as they take their final flight from the nest! 🦉

As a reminder: School age children from other grade levels are NOT allowed at other grade level party. IE: 5th grader can not attend a 2nd grade party.

This does not apply to non school age sibling.

What an incredible evening at Highlands Elementary! Tonight’s 5th Grade Exhibition and GT Showcase truly reflected the heart of our IB community. Our halls were filled with curious minds, confident communicators, creative thinkers, and supportive families as students proudly shared months of inquiry, research, and learning.

The amount of community support tonight was absolutely overwhelming in the best way possible. Thank you to every parent, family member, staff member, and community supporter who came out to celebrate our students and the meaningful work they have accomplished. Seeing our students confidently explain their projects, answer questions, and showcase their passions was a powerful reminder of what authentic learning looks like.

Tonight was more than a showcase. It was a celebration of student agency, collaboration, and the IB learner profile in action. Our students should be incredibly proud of themselves for being such amazing inquirers and communicators as they shared their learning with our community tonight. 🦉 💛

We hope to see everyone this Thursday at 5:45 p.m. in the cafeteria for our 5th Grade Exhibition Night and GT Showcase!

Exhibition is a special part of our journey as an IB PYP candidacy school and serves as a culminating experience for our 5th grade students. Through inquiry, research, collaboration, and action, students have spent months exploring topics they are passionate about and preparing to share their learning with our community.

Our GT students will also be showcasing their creativity, innovation, and accomplishments during this exciting evening.

Our News Crew welcomed a very special guest for an exciting edition of the Hoot Report all about 5th Grade Exhibition. Students had the opportunity to share about their projects, talk about the hard work behind Exhibition, and remind everyone why this is such an important milestone in the IB journey.

Exhibition is more than just a project. It’s a chance for our students to become inquirers, communicators, and leaders as they showcase their learning, passions, and action with our school community. We are so proud of the confidence, creativity, and dedication our 5th graders are showing as they prepare for one of the biggest events of the year!

Stay tuned, Owls… this special Hoot Report is one you won’t want to miss!

From pickleball and tug-a-war to inflatables and the always exciting dunk tank, our students had an amazing day full of fun, laughter, and school spirit!

A huge THANK YOU to Coach Hammond, our incredible specials team, and our wonderful parent volunteers for making this day possible. Your hard work, planning, and support helped create such a memorable experience for our Highlands Owls.
