It's crazy to think our family started when we were in high school - you graduated while raising a baby a home.

Now both of our babies have officially graduated from high school. They were only 2 and 5 when you passed away and with each milestone there is a bittersweet feeling knowing you a missing from it.

Raising our children without you has been the hardest yet most rewarding job I have ever had but boy do I wish you could have been beside me.

There have been so many times your guidance, laughter, and strength has been needed and missed so fiercely.

Now as both of our children are entering into adulthood they need you to watch over them more than ever.

You were so missed today and always.

You should be turning 40 today, you should be sprinkled with grey hairs, you should be making deeper laugh lines, you should be fighting off a growing midsection, you should be worrying about your hairline, you should be aging like the fine wine you always said you were — you should be here.

Instead, you are forever frozen as a 24 year never touched by the inconveniences of age — not given the privilege of growing older.

Even though you aren’t here we will never miss celebrating who you were and mourning who you never got to be.

Today and always I think of the amazing families that we have met on our journey and of their love ones whose memories they hold dear. They will never be forgotten as long as we say their names and as long as we share their stories.

15 birthdays not spent with you… 15. That is crazy to try to wrap my head around. You should be on the cusp of your 40s, but I remember one day getting ready with you in the bathroom mirror talking about getting old and you saying you didn’t see yourself ever getting old and I was like of course you will – I don’t know how but somehow you knew. Many people dread turning another age as our 40s are looming closer but your passing has taught us to embrace each year and appreciate the opportunity to grow old as many aren’t given that chance. 7.17 will forever hold a special meaning in our hearts. Happy Birthday, Kyle! Cheers to 39. 💚
