🚨 Regarding Road Closure 🚨
Road-closed barricades were utilized during last night's MVC (road is open today) to block traffic from the scene. Unfortunately, some vehicles bypassed these barricades and were stopped by firefighters.
The closures are necessary for public and first responder safety, as well as allowing crews to prioritize lifesaving efforts.
When encountering road closures, please respect barriers unless 'local traffic only' is indicated.

Update: patients are out of vehicles, being transported by ambulance and Air Ornge.
⚠️Avoid the area if possible!

Crews are responding to a MVC involving two vehicles on Schutt Rd near Raglan White Lake Rd. Extrication is required.
⚠️ Yield for first responders.

Over the last 24 hours our firefighters have responded to 9 calls of service, including
-Mutual aid assistance KHR Firefighters
-Fires caused by downed power lines across the municipality
-Two grass fires in Carlow/Mayo in close proximity to structures
-MVC involving a dirt bike

In between calls crews cleaned & restocked trucks & equipment. As well as made several significant repairs to keep the fleet moving, including a late night tire change.

On Friday night Fire Departments across Renfrew County responded to 143 calls for service. Big shout out to all the firefighters, first responders and dispatchers for keeping our communities safe!

⚠️Update: Hardwood Lake Station is responding to a tree on a hydro line, and grass is on fire below on Haryett Rd, Carlow/Mayo Township.

Update: crews have cleared the area
Hardwood Lake station is responding to a crash notification at the intersection of Hwy 28 and Schutt Rd.

UPDATE 1pm. Firefighters have cleared the area at Wilowski Dr.

UPDATE 12:15pm. No further assistance is required for the forest fire on Wilowski Drive.

UPDATE 11:50am. BLR chief says crews are successfully pushing back the forest fire on Wilowski Dr.
As for the tree on a hydro line at 32 Hopefield Road, tree is smouldering on line and fire truck will remain on scene until hydro arrives.

UPDATE 11:30am. MV Chief says no firefighters from Madawaska Valley are available for Wilowski Drive, as they’re fighting an active forest fire off of Hwy 62.
BLR is taking the lead on this forest fire.

UPDATE 11:17am. Madawaska Valley is updating that the forest fire on Wilowski Drive is aggressively spreading and heading towards cottages. Requesting all available firefighters.

UPDATE 11am. One truck is being redirected to another mutual aid request from Madawaska Valley for a tree on a hydro line in the area of 32 Hopefield Rd.

Crews are responding to a mutual aid request from Madawaska Valley for an active forest fire on Wilowski Drive.
The request is for a pumper, tanker, and manpower.
