“... we are making higher education more affordable and accessible, and strengthening the college-to-career pipeline of innovative thinkers and problem solvers, which benefits the students, their families and Pennsylvania’s economy.”

Tuition across Pennsylvania’s 10 state-owned universities will not increase this fall as the State System of Higher Education on Wednesday approved a sixth consecutive tuition freeze, this one for 2024-25. During a special meeting, held virtually, the State System’s Board of Governors vo...

Frivolous lawsuits should not be a tool of the rich to attack people or groups they want to silence.

Representative Ryan Bizzarro's bill to preserve free speech and end litigation intimidation has been signed into law by Governor Shapiro.

HARRISBURG, July 18 – The governor’s signature marked the culmination of years of work by state Rep. Ryan Bizzarro to enact a law to end frivolous lawsuits and preserve freedom of speech.  “The need and impetus for this legislation arose more than a decade ago when a...

“This bill is the next step in meeting consumer demand,” said Rep. Dan Deasy. “It provides consumers with better access to their desired products, in this particular case, ready-to-drink cocktails.”

Gov. Josh Shapiro signed into law a measure offered by Sen. Mike Regan, R-Cumberland/York counties, that allows low-alcohol mixed drink cocktails sold in cans to be sold outside of state liquor stores.

“This is a down payment and a promise to keep working and negotiating so we can fully fund our transit agencies in all 67 counties..." - Rep. Ed Neilson

Gov. Josh Shapiro may not have gotten all the money he wanted for public transit, but the Legislature took steps in several key transportation areas last week. The compromise $47.6 billion state budget approved late Thursday provided the first increase in the state transit subsidy in more than 10 ye...

Businesses and communities thrive when people can reliably get to work - public transit makes that happen.

Representative Ryan Bizzarro makes the case that growing PA's economy can't be done without growing public transit service, and that means better funding.

Businesses thrive when employees can reliably get to work and consumers can easily access services and products.

“It doesn’t help our community as a whole,” Rep. Carol Hill-Evans said. “The longer I see this voucher program, the fewer I see people that look like me being helped.”

While the proposed school voucher program is targeted to schools that serve a majority of Black and brown students, the idea doesn't have a great deal of support among Black and brown lawmakers.
