Tuesday, March 31st. SGFD Firefighter Training.
Members had access to a residential home. With the use of smoke machines (Not Actual Fire) firefighters trained Patient Search and Rescue, Downed Firefighter Rescue and Ventilation Techniques.

Firefighting ventilation techniques involve strategically removing smoke, heat, and toxic gases from a structure to improve visibility, reduce flashover risk, and aid rescue. Key methods include vertical ventilation (cutting roof holes), horizontal ventilation (using doors/windows), and mechanical methods (PPV fans, hydraulic ventilation). Proper coordination with fire suppression is essential for safety.

Thank you Patti for allowing us to use your house for our practice. We seldom get the opportunity to work on a good residential structure to better our skills.

SGFD will be conducting a training exercise tonight at a residence on Pine avenue. During this time, the area will be restricted to local traffic only. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Tonight, SGFD Firefighter Training.
Members trained forcible entry using a forcible entry door system. Using only a Halligan and Axe for tools.

Members also took time to brush up on map skills and radio communications.

THANK YOU to the Souris Legion for allowing SGFD to host the meat draw last night. Thank you to all those that attended/supported as well as those that donated gifts for prizes. We raised $2,230 through the meat draw, 50/50 and supper donations that will be put towards our equipment fund. We greatly appreciate the ongoing support from our community.

Fellas got our 1908 pump pulled out of the museum and running like a top and had a few demos for the crowd at the fair today.

Had a great day at Souris Fair today. Took part in the parade and then held our annual kids firemans rodeo.
