Oyo State Begins House-to-House Waste Bin Enforcement
Deadline for Compliance: 1 September 2026
The Oyo State Government has commenced enforcement of mandatory waste bin provision for every residential and commercial building across the State, giving residents and property owners one month to comply.
The Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Hon. Ademola Aderinto, announced that every household, residential building, business premises, shopping complex and plaza must provide designated waste bins commensurate to the size of the building, the number of occupants and the volume of waste generated.
What You Must Do:
- Provide designated waste bins appropriate to the size of your building or business premises.
- Patronise only government-accredited Private Sector Participants (PSPs) for waste collection and evacuation.
- Remain up to date with monthly waste disposal payments, as enforcement teams will verify evidence of payment during inspections.
-Ensure your surroundings remain clean.
Anyone found engaging unapproved waste contractors or disposing of waste through unauthorised means will face the full weight of the law.
Residents and businesses experiencing challenges with waste collection services or seeking information on accredited PSP operators should contact:

Department of Environmental Health Services, Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources
Enforcement takes effect from 1 September 2026.
