Town of Aurora Democratic Committee The Democratic Party is dedicated to promoting candidates who share progressive and democratic values

The Aurora Democratic Committee is a community of Town of Aurora residents who seek and embrace input and participation from all local Democrats in establishing and communicating our message, recruiting, supporting and electing good Democratic candidates to office. We believe that local government exists to serve local people and are committed to promoting candidates who share democratic and pro

gressive values that voters can proudly support. Our goal is to increase participation in the electoral process, raise awareness and promote related events. We are committed to a collaborative process of open government that gives voice to everyone in the community. How you can participate:
-Attend open monthly meetings generally held on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30pm*
-Volunteer for neighbor-to-neighbor canvas teams going door to door across the town and village talking to voters about our endorsed candidates
-Place lawn signs in your yard and those of your neighbors, family and friends
-Help with mailings
-Work phone banks
-Join in Voter Registration and other get-out-the vote efforts
-Run for office
-Become an Election Inspector
-Drive voters to the polls

The Town of Aurora Democratic Committee is accepting applications for six town offices for the 2025 election cycle. In 2025, the town positions up for re-election are supervisor, town board (2), clerk, judge, and highway superintendent.

Prospective candidates should submit a resumé and state the position they are seeking to [email protected]. Following this initial email, we will request further information and invite candidates to come before the committee to answer questions before official endorsements are made. Although all six incumbents (both Democrats and Republicans) intend to run for another term, in the spirit of democracy, any town resident who meets the qualifications can apply. The deadline to submit is Friday, January 3rd at 11:59pm.

New York is becoming the first state in the nation to offer paid prenatal leave! Starting January 1, pregnant women will be able to attend their checkups without sacrificing a paycheck. We’re leading the way to make life a little easier for working families.

Fellow Aurorans,

I know we are heartbroken. I know we fear the future. I know we thought we’d be celebrating. But as President Biden, a true leader, said, “you can’t only love your country when you win.”

Don’t get me wrong, I am profoundly disappointed in America. We elected a traitor and felon to the highest office in the land… again. It makes me sick. We know who he is. We know what he will do. However, this is our reality, and we must endure it. We will not lie about the results. We will not storm the Capitol. We are better than that.

We will face the next four years together. With determination. With passion. With strength.

As Vice President Harris has said throughout her campaign, we believe in the promise of America. Let us not give up hope.

Although the national outcome was not our preference, our community has much to be proud of this election:

1) We re-elected U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand to another six years in the U.S. Senate. Senator Gillibrand won the Town of Aurora by 10 points, a resounding victory. She will be the first line of defense against the new administration in Washington.

2) We retained Mike Keane for District Attorney for a full term. His opponent attacked him unfairly and said “make crime illegal again.” Sound familiar? Nearly identical. The result? DA Keane won Erie County, and the Town of Aurora, with nearly 60% of the vote. Can you remember the last time a county-wide candidate in a contested race got 60% of the vote? That’s a huge accomplishment!

3) Erie County Family Court will have two extraordinary judges in one of the most difficult positions. A tremendous congratulations to Judge Kara A. Buscaglia for Erie County Family Court and Judge Jeff Harrington for Erie County Family Court. We know you will help our families on their worst day with a compassionate heart and the experience required.

Lastly, a few points of gratitude.

Thank you to Tom Carle for Congress 2024 and Darci For Assembly for running in extremely tough districts. Tom held Congressman Langworthy’s feet to the fire. Darci won the Town of Aurora, meaning Assemblyman DiPietro’s own hometown, the people who know him best, rejected him. That’s an important message.

Vice President Harris carried the Town of Aurora by 8 points. That made me smile. I’m so proud of our town for voting for optimism and progress, even if others didn’t.

The fight is not over. We have critical local elections next year. Keep going. Keep voting. Get involved with our extraordinarily successful committee to ensure more progress in 2025!

All my best,

Ethan Frey
