Today we’re celebrating someone who brings not only leadership to our community, but heart, wisdom, and a true spirit of service.

Happy Birthday to our wonderful council member and mayor pro tem, Sonja Carroll! Your willingness to listen, your ability to bring people together, and your commitment to finding common ground - even when the conversations and decisions are tough - make you an incredible asset to our town. You lead with grace, fairness, and a genuine desire to do what’s best for everyone.

We are so grateful for your leadership and friendship.
Please join us in wishing our mayor pro tem a very Happy Birthday!!! May this year be filled with joy, good health, and many blessings! 🎉🎂🎈

🚽 A Friendly Reminder from the Town Utility Crew 💙

Just because a package says *flushable* doesn’t mean it’s safe for our municipal sewer system. Unfortunately, wipes - even the ones labeled “flushable” - do NOT break down like toilet paper and are causing significant stoppages in parts of town.

Please help us protect our system by remembering:

✅ Toilet Paper — Flush it
❌ Wipes (even “flushable” ones) — Trash it

A little change at home can make a big difference for our entire community. Thank you for helping keep our system flowing smoothly! 💧🏡

🎉 Great news for the Town of Columbia! 🎉

We are proud to announce that our water system has earned an “A” Water Grade from the Louisiana Department of Health - an improvement from our “B” rating last year!

This achievement reflects not only our commitment to providing safe, reliable, and high-quality water to our residents, businesses, and visitors, but also the behind-the-scenes work that makes strong public service possible.

Over the past year, the Town of Columbia has implemented a **new record-keeping system**, strengthened documentation and reporting practices, and ensured **timely compliance and payments** - all important steps in building a stronger, more accountable utility system.

This “A” rating is a direct reflection of the dedication of our staff, our public works team, and our commitment to continuous improvement.

Please join us in celebrating this accomplishment. Columbia continues raising the bar, and we’re proud of the progress being made for our community! 💧💙 We ❤️living here!

🚧 Please use caution when in the area of Jackson and Pearl Streets as our crews are evaluating a sinkhole. 🚧
We are waiting on a utility provider to evaluate and mark their lines before we begin the repair. Thank you for your patience!

This summer, you will begin noticing some big improvements to our beautiful downtown as street and infrastructure repairs are about to be bid. Our town received a $500k appropriation for this work from our state legislature. A major thank you to our State Senator Glen Womack and Representative Neil Riser for sponsoring this funding and our house appropriations chair Jack McFarland of Jackson Parish for the help!
