2 CTG Remnants Killed, Fi****ms Seized in NegOcc Encounters
Two remnants of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) were killed in consecutive encounters with operating troops of the Armyโs 94th Infantry Battalion (94IB) against the combined elements of the dismantled guerilla units, Central Negros 2 (CN2) and Regional Strike Force (RSF) on Friday, January 30, 2026, in Barangay Bi-ao, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental.
The encounter successfully thwarted an attempt to sabotage government infrastructure projects in Barangay Bi-ao. The armed group sought to burn heavy equipment being used for ongoing development works, but the swift and decisive action of the troops prevented the destruction through timely information from residents.
The first encounter occurred at around 2:50 a.m. in Sitio Hacienda Dama following reports of at least five armed CTG remnants present in the area. A firefight ensued for about 10 minutes, resulting in the neutralization of one CTG member, identified by a former comrade as alias Dante.
According to the 94IB, government forces recovered an M16 rifle and various personal belongings from the encounter site.
Later that same day, at around 4:00 p.m., while scouring the area, troops engaged the same group of at least five communist terrorists in Sitio Apitong, Barangay Biao. The five-minute firefight led to the neutralization of Reynaldo Erecre alias Amik, Secretary, Komiteng Rehiyon โ Negros. A caliber .45 pistol, along with its magazine and ammunition, was also recovered.
The leadership of the 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division commended the troops of the 94IB and the local communities for their cooperation, which led to the neutralization of two CTG remnants and the capture of high and low-powered fi****ms. At the same time, the Division reiterated its persistent call for peace, healing, and reconciliation.
