We celebrate International Women's Day following our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. These are some of the great women working at AAO-MQ.
Tayyaba Zafar is a Lecturer, an astronomer, MANIFEST instrument Project Scientist, and the first women from Pakistan who took a trip to Antarctica under . She says: “Take your space and let your universe expand”.
Rebecca Brown is an optical engineer that works on optical fibres and their positioning technologies. Her current research involves optimising integral field units called hexabundles which gather light from distant galaxies to enable astronomers to understand the origins and dynamics of galaxies.

Katrina Sealey is the COO of the AAO Consortium and leads the Research Data and Software team at the AAO-MQ combining her two passions, astronomy and enabling others to reach their potential. She successfully led the AAO-MQ Athena Swan accreditation process.
Celestina Saavedra Lacombe is an electrical engineer and PM new to projects involving bespoke technology and research. Coming from the more mundane 'real-world’ industries, she is excited for the opportunity to test her abilities and resilient approach to PM at AAO-MQ. Other interests: health, cooking, dancing.

Nuria Lorente has been working in optical and radio astronomy and instrumentation for over 25 years. Nuria mostly works in software and systems engineering, and enjoys investigating misbehaving telescope instruments, and solving software and data puzzles, to facilitate world class science.
