On 17/05/2024 a farmer training along with demonstration was organized at Mundali Panchayat located in Chopal Tehsil of Shimla District. More than 80 farmers participated in this program. initiated with the opening remark and welcome by the panchayat pradhan Shree Rajender Karalta. Head of the station Dr Dharam Pal then introduced farmers to IARI and briefed them about the station mandate. He also enlightened the farmers about wheat and barley varieties developed by the IARI Regional Station for hill farmers. After that, Dr. K.K. Pramanik, Principal Scientist (Horticulture) outlined the technologies developed by the station and the varieties of temperate fruits. After that, Dr Santosh Watpade, Senior Scientist, Plant Pathology stressed on production of clean planting material. he introduced major pests and diseases of apple and briefed farmers about their management. Dr. Jitendra Kumar, Technical Officer helped in the successful organization of the training program and guided the farmers on soil sampling for nutrient analysis. A team of scientists also conducted a field visit and demonstration of the apple woolly aphid trap. The farmers seemed happy and satisfied with the information given by the team of IARI RS Shimla. Each question was answered by experts during the interaction session. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Vijay Deepta who also helped in the local coordination of the training program.
