This page is not monitored 24/7. Slogan:
“One team. One task”

Mission Statement:
We exist to improve the quality of life and reduce the loss of life through community engagement and emergency response. One team. Nothing in this business is accomplished alone. We are committed to bettering ourselves and the team placed around us. We are our first team and any individual’s success is only a reflect

ion of the team’s success.

2. One task. The task will change from day to day, buy we are all in when assigned a task. We bring integrity, experience, and commitment to every task, treating it as the one task.

3. One tradition. We are steeped in tradition. The fire service is America’s greatest volunteer force in history. The time-tested, salt-soaked history of the fire service, both nationally and in our own community, gives us a great point of pride.

4. One tomorrow. Everything we do, we do with our all. Such a view requires us to leave things better than we find them, no matter the situation. With all integrity, we set our eyes on the future and to making it the best possible tomorrow possible.

This means Watauga, Ashe, and Avery counties are all under the ban.

• Any previously issued burn permits are now canceled

✅ What is still allowed:

• Fire pits and outdoor fireplaces WITHIN 100 feet of an occupied dwelling (subject to local fire marshal authority)

⚠️ Violations: $100 fine + $183 court costs. Anyone who starts a fire may also be liable for the cost of suppression.

Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler cited drought conditions, forecasted fire weather, and limited rainfall as the reasons for the statewide action.
