SEPLA

SEPLA SEPLA is a nonprofit organization that provides training and networking opportunities for Educators & Police Liaison Officers

For several years school liaison officers, their supervisors, school principals and other administrators, have been coming together annually in Mt. Pleasant Michigan to attend the Schools, Educators, Police Liaison Association (SEPLA) Conference. This conference provides 3 days of essential training. This program provides professional instruction expressly designed to help schools, law enforcement

agencies and communities learn to work together and gain expertise in the area of implementing and managing school liaison programs. Through the years the SELPA advisory council has worked diligently to develop an exceptional program planned around current issues and challenges faced by schools and communities of all sizes. This was originally a two-year program. In recent years, the advisory committee has responded to the need to refresh the set of courses each year in order to meet the changing needs of all law enforcement and school officials involved in school liaison programs. Therefore, whether participants are experienced or new to the school liaison program, the line-up of topics and the high caliber of speakers will justify returning every year for ongoing training. For several years there has been an apparent need for an association that would become a resource center for information that can be used by all members that are aligned in finding solutions of youth problems that can be found at home or at school, without losing track of educating all who have contact with our children.

When tragedy hits, it's easy to point fingers and play Monday Morning Quarterback...and never put anything into action.

We have ALWAYS taken the EVERYTHING should be on the table approach when it comes to targeted violence in our schools.

What ideas should be placed on the table?

As the new school year gets going...

it's good for you or your school nurse, to check the status the items like your Stop the Bleed Kits, AED, Epi Pens, etc.

We've heard from schools where those items grow legs and walk off and nobody realizes until they are needed.

Have a great day!

A school shooting just took place at the Annunciation Catholic School in Minnesota. Multiple deaths and casualties are being reported.

For most, this school year is a few days old at best.

Please keep the victims in your prayers!

A HUGE thank you to Silas of Coins by Catania to make this happen for our buddy Jameson.

We're praying for you!

At the recent SEPLA (School Educators Police Liaison Association) conference, attendees came together in a remarkable show of support for 8-year-old Jameson Doud, who is courageously battling brain cancer. A generous donation was collected on his behalf, and in a meaningful gesture, Silas Barker from Coins by Catania crafted a custom championship belt to honor Jameson’s strength.

Earlier today, Officer Patrick Hammill had the privilege of delivering both the donation and the belt to Jameson and his family. It was a truly moving moment—one that reflected not only the power of community but also sent a powerful message of hope, courage, and resilience.

We extend our sincere thanks to the SEPLA board for their partnership and support in helping make this special effort for Jameson possible.

And with that...the 2025 SEPLA Conference has concluded! Thank you to all the attendees, presenters, Shepherd Public Schools and the Comfort Inn for being our partners in this endeavor.

In the end, the mission is very simple...KEEP OUR SCHOOLS SAFE!

We can't wait to start planning for 2026...
