We are delighted to be able to tell you that the Etherow Bowling Centre will be remaining open ! An interim agreement has been reached with the Etherow Trust, users of the centre & Tameside Council to keep the facility open until the 31st March 24. During this time a committee, already formed, will investigate becoming a Community Interest Company( C.I.C. ) charity or something similar. We, as your local Councillors, will do whatever we can to support this much loved and well used facility. There's lots of potential and we're hopeful of a positive long term outcome. After 12 years serving the community of Longdendale including 2 years as Mayor Cllr Janet Cooper has decided to stand down at the May 2023 local elections . We will have a lot more to say about Janet before we let her go but we are delighted to announce that Longdendale Labour have selected Gary Ferguson as our candidate to join Cllr Jacqueline North and Cllr Jacqueline Owen standing for election in May 2023.

We are proud to announce that Stalybridge and Hyde Labour Party have taken home the trophy at the inaugural inter CLP boat race.
Many thanks to Hugh Roderick and Dave Sweeton for a sterling effort whilst we provide the ballast and commiserations to Ashton and Denton but they were good sports.
A big thank you to Cllrs Jan Jackson and Sangita Patel for organising a brilliant event to raise funds for Willow Wood and the Mayor’s Charities. A special mention also for Cllr Betty Affleck for the wonderful cake.
