We’re proud to introduce Jason Tetrick #560 as our full-time PEER Coordinator with the Kenosha Police Department.
Jason has served KPD for more than 17 years, including 13 years on third-shift patrol. Throughout his career, he has taken on numerous specialized roles, including Field Training Officer, Accident Investigator, SFST Instructor, member of the Tavern Unit, and dedicated member of our PEER Team. For the past three years, he has also served as a Training Officer, continuing to invest in the growth and development of others.
Jason joined the PEER Team in 2014 and has completed extensive peer-support training, all while demonstrating a deep commitment to the wellness of his coworkers. He was also selected as the handler for Tilly, KPD’s first Therapy/Facility Dog, another reflection of his heart for service and his passion for supporting others.
So what is a PEER Coordinator?
The PEER Coordinator serves as an advocate for the wellness of our officers and civilian staff. Law enforcement is a demanding profession. Long shifts, holidays away from family, high-risk situations, and exposure to traumatic events are realities of the job. At KPD, we believe caring for our people is essential. Our goal is not simply to help our officers endure these challenges, but to ensure they remain healthy and well throughout their careers and into retirement.
The PEER Coordinator leads a team of trained peer members who walk alongside coworkers as they navigate both professional and personal challenges. This role also helps connect officers and their families with valuable resources and support systems when they are needed most.
Taking care of our people is one of the most important responsibilities we have. The PEER Coordinator position is unique in law enforcement, and not many agencies across the country are able to provide this level of dedicated wellness support. We are grateful to have Jason leading this important work and look forward to the continued positive impact he will make within our department and our community.
