Today marks the death anniversary of Syed Atta Hussain Shah Musavi, a distinguished scholar, writer, and devoted educationist. Born on October 28, 1898, in Rohri to Syed Wadhel Shah, he received early instruction in Sindhi, Arabic, and Persian from Qazi Mian Ghulam Mehdi. He completed his Sindhi Final Examination in 1916, matriculated from Sindh Madressatul Islam High School, Karachi, earned a B.A. from D.J. College, and later an M.A. in Persian Literature from Aligarh University.
He began his career as a teacher and later served as Headmaster and education administrator in various schools across Sindh, including Shikarpur, Naushahro Feroze, and Hyderabad. He held several key positions such as Deputy Educational Inspector, Educational Inspector of Sukkur Division, and Deputy Director in the Sindh Education Department.
In 1956–57, he and his brother Syed Abdul Hussain Shah Musavi founded the Sukkur Educational Society. Through his efforts, Rohri Law College was established, now named Syed Atta Hussain Shah Musavi Degree College in his honor.
Author of more than a dozen books, Syed Atta Hussain Shah Musavi passed away on June 8, 1966. His life and legacy are recorded in Dr. Hamid Ali Khanai’s book “Maqalat-e-Khanai.”
