Holiday meals can be overwhelming for children with food sensitivities.

Try these ABA-informed tips at home:

✔️ Offer familiar “safe foods” alongside the holiday meal
✔️ Let your child explore new foods visually before trying them
✔️ Use small, no-pressure exposure (tiny tastes or smell-only steps count!)
✔️ Celebrate any attempt, no matter how small

Holiday decorating is an exciting part of the season. However, new colors, lights, smells, and sensations can become overwhelming, especially when they are new or not a part of regular routines.

A few sensory-friendly adjustments can help children enjoy the season comfortably:

✔️ Introduce new decorations slowly
✔️ Let your child explore lights and ornaments before putting them up
✔️ Avoid loud or motion-based decorations if they’re startling
✔️ Choose soft lighting if bright colors feel overstimulating

Children are more successful when they can learn about new sensations at their own pace!
