PUBLIC SAFETY ASSURED AFTER SUCCESSFUL RECOVERY AND RSP OPERATION IN ZAMBOANGA DEL NORTE
In line with the PNP Focus Agenda, under the leadership of PBGEN ROGELIO Z RAYMUNDO, JR, Director of the PNP-EOD/K9 Group, personnel from Regional EOD and Canine Unit 9, PECU Zamboanga del Norte successfully executed a critical public safety operation.
The operation was initiated when the PECU Zamboanga Del Norte office received an urgent assistance call from the Tampilisan Municipal Police Station. A local resident and fellow law enforcement officer, had accidentally discovered suspected explosives inside the warehouse of his late grandfather while cleaning the premises at Purok 7, Barangay Galingon, Tampilisan, Zamboanga del Norte.
Demonstrating the rapid-response capabilities, PECU Zamboanga Del Norte personnel led by Team Leader PSMS Dino G Latawan, immediately deployed to the scene. Arriving at the location during the designated operational window, the team seamlessly coordinated with the investigator of Tampilisan MPS, to collect vital data and establish immediate site documentation.
Applying strict adherence to standard operating procedures and advanced tactical expertise, the team conducted a meticulous Render Safe Procedure (RSP). Their technical examination successfully identified a highly volatile cache consisting of two (02) Practice Rifle Gr***des, four (04) HEAT Rifle Gr***des, one (01) M67 Hand Gr***de, one (01) Smoke Hand Gr***de, and one (01) 40mm HEDP Cartridge.
Following the successful mitigation of the threat, the hazardous explosive ordnance was safely transported to the PECU Zamboanga Del Norte storage facilities for temporary safekeeping and final, proper disposition.
