For the first time since the pandemic, satisfaction with the NHS is rising.

After years of pressure, it’s a sign that things may finally be moving in the right direction — even if challenges remain.

Progress, but not the finish line.

Labour will make sure all new-build homes will come with solar panels as standard.

That means cheaper energy for families, faster progress on climate goals, and less dependence on imported oil and gas.

It’s about building a future that’s cleaner, more affordable — and more secure.

Sometimes policy isn’t abstract — it’s life-changing.

450,000 children could be lifted out of poverty.

That’s what ending the two-child limit means.

The Labour government has taken a major step in reforming the House of Lords.

A new bill will remove the remaining hereditary peers — ending the right to sit and vote in Parliament purely by birth.

This change completes a reform process that began over 25 years ago and aims to make the system more democratic and merit-based.

With conflict in the Middle East, many people are understandably worried about the impact on their energy bills.
Tackling the cost of living crisis remains the number one priority of the Labour Party.
Here’s what that means in practice:
1. The energy price cap is in place — so prices won’t rise again before July.
2. The Labour government are working with the competition watchdog to prevent unfair pricing and protect consumers.
3. And Labour have a long-term plan to boost clean, homegrown energy — including wind, solar and nuclear — to reduce our reliance on volatile international fossil fuel markets.

Elections send messages — and we’re listening. But it hasn’t shaken our resolve — it’s strengthened it.

Families are still facing high energy bills, and that’s the issue that matters most. The Labour Party are more determined than ever to bring down costs, deliver energy security, and put money back in people’s pockets.

With Labour, the energy price cap is coming down by £117.

Children with special educational needs deserve the opportunity to achieve their full potential. By paying off 90% of councils’ SEND deficits, the Labour government are giving local authorities the breathing space they need to invest in better support, earlier intervention, and brighter futures.

It comes days after the Local Government Association warned that eight in 10 English councils would face bankruptcy, if they had to honour deficits.

Some will always choose to talk our county down. The Labour government chooses to roll up their sleeves and deliver — economic stability, investment, and real opportunities for working families.

People are watching politics closely, and trust matters. Maintaining high standards in public life is essential, and Labour takes this responsibility seriously.

At the same time, people want action on the issues that affect their daily lives — the cost of living, healthcare, housing, jobs and strong communities. That’s where Labour is focused.

Here are some of the steps already underway to support communities, improve services, and get the country moving again.

There is more to do — and we’re determined to keep delivering for everyone.

🚒 Local Labour councillors and firefighters are speaking out against proposed cuts to our fire service. Campaigners say that plans could leave the whole county with just five fire engines at night and cut at least 42 firefighter posts.

The consultation closes tomorrow — please complete the survey and tell the County Council why these cuts put our communities at risk.

Oxford Labour is clear - Oxfordshire County Council must listen to firefighters at the Oxfordshire FBU. Yesterday in the Oxford Mail 👇
