“The Soldiers of the 429th BSB performed with distinction at the eXportable Combat Training Capability rotation in June,” said Lt. Col. James W. Wells, the commander of the 429th. “Our new light support battalion force structure is designed to support the newly transformed 116th MBCT will be tested next summer in the crucible of Joint Readiness Training Center at Fort Polk, Louisiana. The Soldiers of the newly-reorganized 429th LSB are up to the task.”

Virginia National Guard Soldiers assigned to the Danville-based 429th Brigade Support Battalion, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team employ Palletized Load System vehicles to move cargo June 23, 2025, at Fort Pickett, Virginia. These heavy tactical trucks are equipped with a Load Handling System which has a hook-lift mechanism at the rear of the truck that allows for rapid self-loading and unloading of demountable cargo beds, known as flatracks. The 116th is the first Army National Guard brigade to test the approved task organization for a mobile brigade combat team, and it will be evaluated during a 21-day eXportable Combat Training Capability rotation.
