A look behind the curtain.

What we see here is a private conversation between Peter Mandelson and Pat McFadden, the Work & Pensions Secretary.

His last message reveals the fundamental issue with the Labour Party and their core ethos.

Taxing more people to hand out more benefits isn’t a long term plan for a country. People need to have access to good jobs. Work ultimately needs to pay.

Which I think Reforms policies on not paying income tax until you earn £20,000 will be the greatest uplift for working people in many decades.

A Reform government will SCRAP income tax on overtime for anyone earning under £75,000.

You’re working harder than ever, but every payday, you stare at your payslip and think: “Why do I even bother?”

Britain’s tax burden is the highest since WW2. Labour and the Conservatives punish your hard work. I want to reward it.

Work beyond 40 hours a week as overtime? The taxman gets nothing under Reform. You keep every penny you earn.

⚠️ Scam alert

We've been made aware of fake text messages informing people that they have an unpaid Penalty Charge Notice (PCN).

The text gives a link to a fake government website in the hope that people will click on it and provide personal details, including bank details. This would give the information to scammers.

We will never contact anyone about Penalty Charge Notices by text. We have no way of knowing your phone number.

Penalty Charge Notices are issued in person on the vehicle only, or occasionally handed to the driver.

Payments are made via our website at https://www.northyorks.gov.uk/roads-parking-and-travel/parking-fines-and-enforcement/pay-parking-fine, not the government website.

Bizarre UFO question shows that Labour has given up on opposition in North Yorkshire.

Some Councillors were left bemused today when at Full Council the Labour Group Leader Cllr Steve
Shaw-Wright who represents Selby West on the Council used his only question to ask about UFOs.

“Will the leader be joining calls from Cllr Lay of Doncaster and set up a special UFO scrutiny
committee?”

Cllr Shaw-Wright could have asked a question on one of the multiple Council projects that are
currently struggling around North Yorkshire, he could have asked a question about the Council doing more to help with the cost of living, he could even have passed comment on the recent leadership chaos within the Conservative group, instead UFOs.

Commenting after the meeting Reform Group Leader Cllr Tom Seston added:

“Both the Conservatives and Labour have denied a backroom deal has taken place. I would suggest that Labour placing this petty political jab above genuine scrutiny, along with the recent history of abstentions is proof that the truth is out there”.

Cllr Mike Jordan, who represents the Cambleforth & Carlton division in the Selby & Ainsty constituency also said:

“Nationally we’re seeing chaos from the Labour Party, on a local level they’re descending into making petty political points over talking about real issues. I would suggest that Cllr Shaw-Wright, and the Labour Group needs a close encounter with reality.”

I’ve been made aware that travellers have moved into the same field as last year. I have reported it to the Council’s traveller liaison officer, I’m yet to receive a reply but they will head down and make contact with them.

There shouldn’t be any issues but as a general rule if you walk your dogs on that field, maybe don’t let them off near the Park & Ride end.

I’ll update people when I hear something.

Wow that’s almost as crazy as the Conservatives doing a deal with Labour in North Yorkshire.
