January is recognized as Firefighter Cancer Awareness Month and reminds every firefighter that your body is your most important piece of equipment. Stay aware, get your annual physical, and protect yourself on and off the job.

On January 15 at approximately 1432 hours, Headland Fire Rescue was dispatched to a reported structure fire in the 600 block of Cleveland Street. Truck 21, Engine 13, Engine 11, and Medic 2 responded and arrived on scene to find heavy fire conditions.

Crews made an initial exterior knockdown and attempted to advance through the front door but encountered extreme heat conditions and were forced to withdraw. Operations continued from the exterior.

Kinsey Volunteer Fire Department established a water supply and assisted with exterior fire suppression efforts. One individual on scene sustained minor burns and was treated and released on scene.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Headland Fire Department Investigation Division. No foul play is suspected at this time.

Headland Fire Rescue would like to thank Kinsey VFD, Haleburg Fire Rescue, Headland Police Department Chief Mark D. Jones, and Henry County EMA for their assistance on scene.

Headland Fire Rescue Press Release:

On December 4, 2025, at approximately 1400 hours, Headland Fire Rescue was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 102 Asia Court. Engine 13, Truck 21, and Medic 1 arrived on scene to find a single-story residential structure with smoke showing from the B-side of the residence.

Crews from Engine 13 initiated an offensive fire attack, while Truck 21 personnel conducted a primary search of the home. The Headland Fire Rescue Fire Investigation Division responded, and the cause of the fire was determined to be accidental in nature.

We would like to extend our appreciation to Kinsey Volunteer Fire Department and Headland Police Department for their assistance on this incident.

No injuries were reported.

On Saturday 08/09/25 at approximately 1800 hours, Headland Fire Rescue was dispatched to a structure fire in the 400 block of County Road 78. Engine 13, Engine 11, Truck 21, and Medic 4 responded.

Engine 13 arrived on scene to find smoke showing. The crew made an offensive attack while Truck 21 conducted a primary search. The fire was quickly contained to the kitchen area.

The cause was determined to be an accidental kitchen fire. Thankfully, there were no injuries reported.

🚨 Incident Report – Structure Fire Response 🚨

On the night of July 10, 2025, Headland Fire Rescue was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 16326 US-431 (Citgo) with smoke visible from the building.

Engine 13, Truck 21, and Medic 4 responded and arrived to find a single-story commercial structure with a light haze inside. After a thorough investigation, no active fire was found. The cause is believed to be electrical in nature, possibly tied to a breaker.

Crews from Truck 21 accessed the roof to check for any fire extension while Engine 13’s crew conducted an interior search and assessment.

We’re proud of the quick response and teamwork that ensured the safety of the community and minimized disruption to the business.
