मुंबईत सकल ओबीसी समाजाच्या वतीने राज्यस्तरीय ओबीसी संघटनांची महत्त्वाची बैठक पार पडली. बैठकीला विजय वडेट्टीवार, खासदार प्रशांत पडोळे, माजी मंत्री महादेव जानकर यांच्यासह ओबीसी समाजातील विविध संघटनांचे नेते आणि प्रतिनिधी उपस्थित होते.
जातनिहाय जनगणनेत ओबीसींसाठी स्वतंत्र कॉलम असावा, अशी प्रमुख मागणी बैठकीत करण्यात आली. अनुसूचित जाती आणि जमातींसाठी स्वतंत्र उल्लेख असताना ओबीसींसाठी स्वतंत्र कॉलम का नाही, असा सवाल विजय वडेट्टीवार आणि महादेव जानकर यांनी उपस्थित केला.
ओबीसींची लोकसंख्या स्पष्टपणे समोर यावी आणि त्यानुसार हक्काचा वाटा मिळावा, यासाठी संभाजीनगरमध्ये राज्यस्तरीय मोर्चा काढण्याचा निर्णय घेण्यात आला आहे. त्यानंतर दिल्लीतील जंतर-मंतरवर देशपातळीवरील आंदोलन उभारण्याची तयारी असल्याचं वडेट्टीवार यांनी सांगितलं.
सत्ताधारी आणि विरोधी पक्षातील सर्व ओबीसी नेत्यांना आंदोलनात सहभागी होण्याचं आवाहन करण्यात येणार आहे. ओबीसी नेत्यांची सात जणांची समिती तयार करून विविध नेत्यांच्या भेटी घेण्याचाही निर्णय बैठकीत घेण्यात आला .
A major meeting of OBC organisations was held in Mumbai to discuss the demand for a separate OBC column in the caste-based census. Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar, MP Prashant Padole, former minister Mahadev Jankar and representatives of several OBC organisations attended the meeting.
The key demand was that OBCs should have a separate column in the caste census, similar to the separate identification provided for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. Leaders argued that without a separate OBC column, the community’s population cannot be accurately established.
The organisations have decided to organise a major state-level march in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, followed by preparations for a nationwide protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. Leaders from both the ruling and opposition parties will be invited to participate.
A seven-member committee is also expected to meet OBC leaders and MPs and seek their support for the demand.
