Remember that responders should already have a strong infectious control program. The current crisis protocols should start there and have some important contingencies to keep personnel and equipment away from contamination as much as possible.

A great app and a little understanding can help you be prepared for your day!
Weather can be complex, but it is based on solid scientific principles. Here is an oversimplification of all the processes, but a good demonstration of how we get rain and storms in the midwest.
ON FAMILY EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS: Remember, there are multiple contingencies families must prepare for. While everyone is thinking about stocking up for mandatory sheltering in place, you must also think about what you will do if someone in your household gets exposed, gets symptoms or gets the virus confirmed (the least likely scenario based on lack of testing capabilities). You must be prepared not only logistically, but emotionally to A) make the right decision and B) to have everything you need. Talk through these scenarios with your family and be ready. I hope you don't have to do this.
To prepare your family talk to them about the fact that if any of you do get sick, the odds are overwhelming that you will get better. Even at worst more than 96% of cases are surviving. We are hearing a lot of stories about the fatalities and not the survivors. Make sure your family (and employees) know this. Make sure your children know this.
Discuss your options and decisions now. If you plan in self-quarantining in the case of exposure or symptoms then be ready for it. Have the supplies you need. You must quarantine for at least 14 days after suspected exposure or onset of symptoms. If a family member is exposed they can quarantine solo. If they start to exhibit symptoms, all family members who they have been exposed to since the exposure should join them in quarantine. If a family member exhibits symptoms, the family should all self-quarantine. The family is considered to have been exposed because the symptoms can show up long after the person became contagious.
To help monitor, make sure you have a digital thermometer because accurate temperature is one thing that helps with recognition of symptoms. Making the decision can be difficult, but if you are prepared you will have all the options available. Many chose not to self quarantine because they simply were not prepared to do so, not because they didn't see the value . Remember we all have duties not only to ourselves and our families, but to the public around us as well. If we do self quarantine when needed, this will be defeated much more quickly.
As with most flu symptoms, hydration is important so keep plenty of water and other fluids (non-alcoholic) on hand. Avoid caffeine as well if you have symptoms. Have plenty of cleaners and hand sanitizers available. If someone in your household does become symptomatic you will want to do a deep clean of all surfaces. The virus has shown the ability to exist on surfaces for periods of time. Clean countertops, door knobs, toilets, refrigerator handles, drawer knobs, light switches, remotes, etc. - anything that you touch in the home. Be especially careful with your phones. Clean them regularly and use speaker phone only. Keep it away from your face.
Plan out two plus weeks of food for your family. Remember that the typical family does not eat three entire meals a day at home regularly so this might be more food per week than you are used to having. If you have a deep freezer it will make things easier as you can stock up on frozen foods. If you don't need to quarantine, it wont go to waste. If you do not have a deep freeze, concentrate of packaged dry meals and canned food. Fill your freezer space with meats and or frozen vegetables. For snacks get energy bars rather than chips or candy.
