‼️HYDROBOILERS INSTALLATION UPDATE‼️

The process of Hydroboilers installation is continuing across residences. The CHC remains on the ground monitoring the progress to ensure that the installations are carried out accordingly.

Residences captured yesterday and today:

1. Jolobe 1 ✅
2. Student Village 2.2 (SV 2.2) ✅
3. Beda 2 🔄

The installation process will continue in other residences, and the CHC will keep students updated as the work progresses.

📍SUICIDE AWARENESS HIKE ⛰️

The Central Housing Committee (CHC) encourages all male students to support and participate in the Su***de Awareness Hike hosted by the SCU Men’s Mental Health on Saturday, 12 September 2026.

The CHC will be part and parcel of this important initiative as we join fellow students in promoting mental health awareness, open conversations and support for one another.

🚌 Transport from East London will be provided.

‼️[HAPPENING NOW]‼️

The installation of Hydroboilers and maintenance work is currently continuing today. The team is presently on the ground at Jolobe 1, attending to the identified issues.

After completing the work at Jolobe 1, the team will proceed to Student Village.

Priority is being given to residences that do not have hydroboilers at all, to ensure that those without any units are attended to first.

The CHC will continue to monitor the progress of the work and provide further updates as the process continues.

‼️IMPORTANT UPDATE‼️

GREETING ALICE CAMPUS STUDENTS

This is to inform all Alice Campus students that two companies will be working concurrently on the replacement of windows across our residences.

The first company will commence work today at Nkandla, then proceed to Beda 1 & 2, followed by Ferguson, and thereafter move to Student Village.

The second company will be working on finalising the remaining residences on the Men’s Side.

The CHC will continue to monitor the progress and keep students updated on developments.

‼️STOVES DELIVERY UPDATE ‼️

The Central Housing Committee (CHC) would like to inform students that the first batch of stoves has arrived today.

This is the first batch, and more stoves are still expected to arrive as the delivery process continues.

The CHC will continue to monitor the process and keep students updated on further deliveries and developments.

The installation process of Hydroboilers is continuing. The process commenced last week, but progress was delayed due to the water outage.

5. Nkandla ✅️
6. ZK Matthews 1 🔄

The process will continue until all targeted residences are covered.

BLOCKAGE UPDATE

Dear Students

The Central Housing Committee (CHC) would like to inform students that some of the reported blockages have been successfully cleared and the affected facilities are now operational. The process of attending to and clearing the remaining blockages is still ongoing.

Students are kindly reminded to avoid flushing items that are not intended to be disposed of through the toilet system. Items such as sanitary products, wipes, paper towels and other inappropriate materials can cause blockages and result in inconvenience for residents.

We therefore urge all students to dispose of waste appropriately and to use the toilet facilities responsibly. Your cooperation will help prevent further blockages and ensure that the facilities remain functional and accessible to everyone.

‼️WATER SUPPLY RESTORATION NOTICE‼️

Dear Students

The Central Housing Committee (CHC) would like to inform all students residing in the affected residences that the water has now been restored.

A pipe at the back of Jabavu Residence was leaking and because of that leak, several residences in Men’s temporarily lost their water supply.

Students are kindly requested to check whether water has been restored in their respective residences , If your residence is still experiencing a water outage please indicate the name of your residence so that the matter can be followed up accordingly.
