INTERRUPTION OF WATER SUPPLY FROM THE HAZELMERE WATER TREATMENT WORKS

DUE TO POWER OUTAGE

uMngeni-uThukela Water's Hazelmere Water Treatment Works is currently experiencing an electricity outage due to three major cables that have burnt out.
This has affected operations at the Treatment Works as we are currently unable to pump bulk water to reservoirs that are supplied from the Hazelmere Water Treatment Works.
As a result, water supply interruptions may be experienced in the following distribution systems :
Verulam : Waterloo and Grange areas
La Mercy : Sea Tides , La Mercy , Westbrook and King Shaka Airport
Ndwedwe : Ndwedwe Res 1 to 5
Avondale : Ballito, Umhlali

The matter has been brought to the attention of the eThekwini Municipality's Electricity Department and they are working to restore the power supply .
Once the power supply issue is resolved, pumping to all reservoirs will resume. uMngeni-uThukela apologises for this unforeseen interruption in water supply. We urge the public to use water sparing
