Mandela Day Community Outreach | Alfred Nzo Region

In the true spirit of Nelson Mandela’s legacy, the ANC Youth League Alfred Nzo Region, through the Winnie Madikizela Mandela Sub-Region, invites all young people, community members, and progressive forces to join our Mandela Day Community Outreach.

This year’s clean-up campaign will take place at Ludeke Methodist Church, the historic church where the marriage of former ANC President Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela and Mama Winnie Madikizela-Mandela was blessed in 1958. Together, we honour their enduring legacy through action, solidarity, and service to our people.

We will dedicate 67 minutes of selfless service towards creating a cleaner, healthier, and more dignified environment for our community. Let us honour Tata Madiba not only through words, but through meaningful action that inspires hope, unity, and active citizenship.

Venue: Ludeke Circuit (MCSA), Ward 04
Date: 18 July 2026
Time: 08:00 AM

“It is in your hands to make our communities better.”

Let us unite, serve, and make every minute count.

Issued by ANCYL Winnie Madikizela Mandela Sub-Region.

The ANCYL Alfred Nzo Regional Task Team (RTT) Member, Cde Zintle Ngquphaza, together with the ANCYL Winnie Madikizela Mandela Sub-Region leadership, yesterday joined the ANCYL Ward 05 Winter Tournament hosted by the Rhatshwini ka Nonqulana Branch at Bekameva Sports Grounds.

The tournament successfully brought together young people from across Ward 05 in the true spirit of unity, sportsmanship, and community development. As the ANCYL, we recognise sport as a powerful vehicle for social cohesion, youth empowerment, and community mobilisation. The event also served as an important platform to encourage voter registration and active youth participation ahead of the upcoming Local Government Elections.

Young athletes showcased exceptional talent, discipline, teamwork, and determination through competitive football and netball matches, while promoting healthy lifestyles and strengthening relationships across communities.

We congratulate all participating teams, champions, runners-up, and outstanding individual performers for their remarkable commitment and sportsmanship. The winning teams were presented with soccer and netball kits, trophies, and medals in recognition of their achievements.

The ANCYL extends its sincere appreciation to the organisers, volunteers, match officials, supporters, community members, and every stakeholder whose dedication ensured the success of this tournament. Your collective efforts continue to demonstrate our shared commitment to empowering young people, strengthening communities, and creating meaningful opportunities for youth development.

“Sport remains a powerful tool for uniting communities, nurturing future leaders, and inspiring hope among young people.”
