ALLEGED R**E OF FOUR-YEAR-OLD CHILD IN CAPRICORN

The South African Police Service (SAPS) Muizenberg Station Commander, together with the Muizenberg Community Policing Forum (CPF), expresses deep concern and strong condemnation following the alleged r**e of a four-year-old child in the Capricorn area within the Muizenberg policing precinct.

The victim is receiving the necessary medical care and support services.

A suspect, who is a minor, has been arrested and the matter is currently before the court. The investigation is being conducted by the SAPS Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit.

Due to the sensitive nature of the case and the involvement of minors, no further information can be released at this stage.

The SAPS and CPF condemn crimes of sexual violence against children in the strongest possible terms and assure the community that such offences are treated with the utmost seriousness.

Parents and caregivers are urged to remain vigilant regarding the safety and supervision of children and to report any suspected abuse immediately to the nearest police station.

PRESS RELEASE – 20 APRIL 2026 – MUIZENBERG COMMUNITY POLICING FORUM
FATAL SHOOTING – OVERCOME HEIGHTS

The SAPS Muizenberg Station Commander, Lieut. Colonel Manuel, wishes to inform the community of a shooting incident that occurred in the Obercome Heights area.

According to reports, on Sunday, 19 April 2026 at approximately 17:00, Muizenberg SAPS members responded to a shooting incident in Overcome Heights. The victim was transported to Retreat Day Hospital, where he was declared deceased on arrival by medical personnel.

Preliminary information indicates that the victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds. At this stage, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been identified.

The motive for the incident is believed to be possibly gang-related, and investigations are currently ongoing. Detectives are actively pursuing all available leads.
