SUNDAY RIDE | KARIBU, UMHLALI – BALLITO

What a great Sunday out on the bikes!

Today’s ride took us to Karibu in Umhlali, Ballito, with a fantastic group of 10 riders and 6 pillions enjoying the road together.

It was also wonderful to have Grant & Linda joining us on their shiny new bike — here’s to many more club rides and happy kilometres together!

Brett took on Road Captain duties for the day and treated us to a few tours, detours and “scenic routes” along the way. We may not always have known exactly where we were going… but he got us there and, most importantly, everyone safely back home!

Breakfast was good, the ride was great, but as always, the company was even better.

Thanks to everyone who joined us and made it another memorable day on the road.

🏍️ HAPPY 74TH BIRTHDAY, TONY STANSELL! 🏍️

Today we celebrate one of our own — a biker, a friend, an orchid grower, and a true member of the HDCSA Durban Family.

Tony, at 74 years young, you’ve certainly proved that age is just a number… although it might take a little longer to get off the bike after a long ride! 😄

Whether you’re cruising the open road, talking bikes, or proudly showing off those magnificent orchids at an exhibition, you bring your own special character and passion to everything you do.

May the year ahead bring you good health, plenty of laughter, beautiful orchids, open roads, full tanks, great rides and even greater memories with the people who matter most.

May God keep His hand of protection over you, bless you abundantly, and grant you many more years of adventures.

In an emergency, every second counts—but the right decision starts long before the ride.

Remember:
• Brake to reduce speed and minimise impact.
• Swerve only when you have a safe escape route.
• Never brake and swerve at the same time.
• Practise both skills regularly until they become instinctive.

The safest riders aren't the ones who react the fastest—they're the ones who prepared before the unexpected happened.

Ride smart. Ride within your limits. Arrive home safely.

A huge congratulations to Wayne & Michelle Dixon, our newest recipients of the legendary Toilet Seat Award! 😂

Their crime?

Buying a Harley-Davidson Ultra Glide Limited... IN SECRET! 🤫🏍️

They honestly thought they could sneak an Ultra Glide Limited into the garage without the Chapter finding out!

Unfortunately, they forgot one very important rule:

You can hide the paperwork...
You can hide the keys...
But you can NEVER hide a new Harley from your Harley family!

As punishment for this highly classified mission, they were presented with the prestigious HDCSA Durban Toilet Seat Award! 🚽🏆

Wear it with pride, Wayne & Michelle! It's a badge of honour awarded only to those brave enough to think they could keep a Harley a secret.

Congratulations on your beautiful Harley-Davidson Ultra Glide Limited. May every kilometre be filled with unforgettable adventures.

Join us for another month of great rides, good company, scenic routes, and unforgettable memories. Whether you're a regular or joining us for the first time, there's always be a place for you in the pack.

August Chapter Rides:
🏍️ 09 August – Baynesfield Estate Country Fair (R40.00 entrance fee per person)
🏍️ 16 August – The Lazy Moose, Clansthal
🏍️ 23 August – St Cathryn's Country Golf Estate, Kranskop (Riding with the Maritzburg Chapter)
🏍️ 30 August – Pitch 'n Ride

📍 Meeting Point: TotalEnergies, Westville Road, Dawncliffe, Westville
