After several months of renovations, we are delighted to announce that our library will officially reopen to the public on Monday, 8 June!

We would like to thank our community for your patience and understanding during this period. We are excited to welcome you back to a refreshed and improved library space where you can read, learn, explore, and connect.

Whether you're looking for your next great book, access to information, study space, or community programmes, our doors are open and we look forward to serving you once again.

On Friday 15 May 2026, we visited one of our senior citizens’ clubs Masimanyane Senior Citizens Club as part of our outreach programme. Following the recent heavy rains and cold weather experienced across the Western Cape, we shared warm meals with our elderly community members to bring comfort, care, and support during this winter season. 💙🍲

World Book and Copyright Day was celebrated on 23 April at IZIMELE Early Childhood Development (ECD) Centre. The session introduced young children to the joy of books through storytelling, picture books, and interactive reading activities. Learners were encouraged to handle books with care and understand that stories belong to their authors. The event promoted early literacy, creativity, and respect for books in a fun and engaging way.

Aday later, We returned to Kuyasa Library to continue (where we actually met and connected with some of our regular patrons from Nazeema Isaacs Library) to continue supporting our community-helping with Gmail access, printing, scanning, photocopying & 2027 school applications for Grade R, 1 & 8 as 16 April 2026 was the due date for online registration, we made sure every parent and guardian that was in the queue registered their child for school.

Different day, same mission: empowering our community through digital skills and ensuring every child gets a fair start.

Thursday 16 April was truly meaningful ✨ We hosted a storytelling session at Ukukhulisa Edacare, sparking imagination and a love for reading among the children. 📚

Afterwards, we had the privilege of engaging with parents, sharing the importance of library membership and how it can open doors to knowledge, growth, and lifelong learning for their children.

Building a culture of reading starts together — at home, in schools, and in our communities. 💙

Today we had the pleasure of visiting the Mzamomhle Senior's Club in Mandela Park (Khayelitsha) for a special outreach program. Together as Nazeema Isaacs Library we shared laughter, fun, and meaningful moments through games like Jenga, football and many other friendly challenges. It was truly a heartwarming and enjoyable experience connecting with our senior citizens in our community. 😀

Netball, community and knowledge in action!

From 27-29 March 2026, the Makhaza Sports Ground hosted an exciting netball tournament with 40 teams from across South Africa. At short notice our library Proudly supported the event by showcasing sports and athlete nutrition books as well as membership froms while also offering a welcoming space with essential facilities like rest rooms and hot water for visiting teams. All of this happened while our library is undergoing a much-needed facelift and renovations.

It was more than just a tournament-it was a true display of teamwork, learning and community spirit.
