[01 June]MEC Bentley Vass, responsible for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements, and Traditional Affairs (CoGHSTA) in the Northern Cape, engaged with SABC News after he welcomed eighty-one (81) newly appointed security officials to the Department of CoGHSTA.

He highlighted that the decision to insource the security services is a landmark step and marks a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to creating stable, dignified, and fair employment opportunities within the provincial government.

In this interview, MEC Vass was also quizzed about the decision of the Provincial Government to place the Sol Plaatje Local Municipality, under Provincial Administration in terms of Section 139 (1)(b) of the Constitution. He reiterated the stance of the government to ensure β€˜β€™Every Municipality Must Work’’ for the benefit of communities and enhanced service delivery, and that the decision to put Sol Plaatje Municipality under administration was not taken lightly, but as a necessary intervention to ensure good governance and sound administration.

πŸ”΄[01 JUNE] DEPARTMENT OF COGHSTA WELCOMES NEW SECURITY OFFICIALS.

MEC Bentley Vass, responsible for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements, and Traditional Affairs (CoGHSTA) in the Northern Cape, joined by the Head of Department, Mr Bafedile Lenkoe, and other Executive and Senior Management, officially welcomed eighty-one (81) newly appointed security officials to the department. This follows a rigorous recruitment process that started in January 2026 to insource the security services for the Department of CoGHSTA.

This landmark step also marks a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to creating stable, dignified, and fair employment opportunities within the provincial government.

Insourcing not only restores the dignity of our security personnel by offering them better benefits and job security, but it also strengthens our internal capacity to protect state assets and ensure a safe environment for all staff and visitors.

Speaking at the welcoming ceremony, MEC Vass emphasized the critical role these officials play, "You are the first line of defense and the face of this department. OFFICIALS.

MEC Bentley Vass responsible for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs (COGHSTA), in the Northern Cape, will be welcoming 81 new and insourced security officials for the Department of CoGHSTA.

This follows previous commitments of the Northern Cape Premier, Dr Zamani Saul to incrementally insource security officials rendering services to the Provincial Government over a period of time ensuring these officials receive government benefits and permanent employment opportunities.

🏑✨[29 May 2026] MEC Bentley Vass, responsible for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs (CoGHSTA), in the Northern Cape, alongside Dawid Kruiper Local Municipality Executive Mayor, Cllr David Kazi, and local councillors, hit the ground for a successful Title Deeds Friday door-to-door campaign in Paballelo!

The leadership team walked the streets to hand-deliver title deeds directly to the rightful owners of government-subsidized homes, ensuring legal ownership and peace of mind for our residents.

"This initiative aims to empower residents, address historical disparities in property ownership, and promote social justice within our province," said MEC Vass.

Executive Mayor Kazi welcomed the provincial intervention, praising the seamless partnership between provincial government, local leadership, and community stakeholders working together for a fairer, more stable future.

The Title Deeds Fridays Campaign is a nationwide initiative to accelerate the delivery of title deeds to rightful owners of government subsidized homes.
