SERVICE DELIVERY-PUBLIC WORKS

The Lephalale Local Municipality Yellow machinery is on the ground in Madibaneng Village, where the Public Works team is hard at work grading and blading roads to improve accessibility for residents.

Cllr Ratah Modiba, together with Moremi Joseph, Secretary ya Kgoro ya Madibaneng, is on the ground engaging with the team and identifying areas that require attention to ensure the work responds directly to the needs of the community.

This activity will help improve road access, mobility and connectivity for residents of Madibaneng.

DISRUPTION OF WATER SUPPLY IN PARTS OF MARAPONG TOWNSHIP DUE TO PIPELINE REPLACEMENT AT PUMPSTATION 26

Residents of Marapong Township are hereby notified of an ongoing disruption to water supply affecting certain areas of the township.

This interruption is due to essential maintenance work being carried out by the Exxaro Grootegeluk Mine maintenance team, which is currently on site replacing aged water infrastructure at Pumpstation 26, located within the Exxaro Hostel premises.

The replacement of old pipes is critical to ensuring the long-term reliability and efficiency of the water distribution system. The work is scheduled for completion by 17:00 today.

The Municipality sincerely apologises for the inconvenience this necessary maintenance may cause and appreciates residents' patience and understanding during this period.

To mitigate the impact on affected households, a municipal water tanker will be deployed to deliver water to the affected areas for the duration of the disruption.

SERVICE DELIVERY – PUBLIC WORKS

The Lephalale Local Municipality Public Works Team is currently on the ground at various locations across Lephalale, carrying out maintenance work as part of ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure and service delivery.

At Bangalong Village, one team is carrying out grading and blading work to improve the condition of local roads and provide better access for residents and motorists.

Another team is busy unblocking the stormwater channel at Marokwane Street in Marapong Township, while another team is working on unblocking stormwater channels at Bosptrays Street and Compo Street in Lephalale Town.

SERVICE DELIVERY – PARKS

The Lephalale Local Municipality Parks Team is on the ground at various locations across Lephalale, carrying out essential maintenance work to keep our public spaces safe, clean and well-maintained.

At OR Tambo Road, the team is trimming tree branches. Motorists are advised to drive carefully and remain vigilant when approaching the work area.

Meanwhile, at Nelson Mandela Drive, the team is cutting and removing palm tree leaves as part of ongoing vegetation maintenance.

These activities are aimed at improving road safety, maintaining public spaces and ensuring a clean and attractive environment for residents and road users.

DISRUPTION OF ELECTRICITY SUPPLY IN PARTS OF LEPHALALE TOWN DUE TO A BURNED CABLE

Residents are hereby informed that a burnt cable at a mini-substation on George Afgos Street has caused a disruption to the electricity supply, affecting several households in the area.

The affected households include those located on Mokgalakwena, Rietspruit, and George Afgos streets.

The damaged cable is scheduled to be replaced tomorrow, after which electricity supply will be restored to the affected households.

DISRUPTION OF ELECTRICITY SUPPLY IN PARTS OF LEPHALALE TOWN

Residents are hereby informed of a disruption of electricity supply in parts of Lephalale Town.
This follows a fault on the Paarl Line.

The municipal electricity team is currently on site to locate the exact position of the fault. Affected areas include Arend, Patrys, Eloff, Koraan and Gompou Streets.

TRAFFIC VISIBILITY – NELSON MANDELA DRIVE

Lephalale Local Municipality Traffic Officers are conducting traffic monitoring and visibility operations along Nelson Mandela Drive as part of ongoing efforts to promote road safety and ensure compliance with traffic regulations.

Motorists are urged to drive responsibly and exercise extra caution while using the roads. Drivers are reminded to obey speed limits, avoid reckless and negligent driving, maintain a safe following distance, and always be alert to pedestrians and other road users.

Motorists are also encouraged to avoid using mobile phones while driving, never drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and ensure that all occupants are properly secured with seat belts.

LEPHALALE LOCAL MUNICIPALITY CELEBRATES CASUAL DAY

Some of the dedicated staff members of Lephalale Local Municipality at the Civic Centre joined millions of South Africans in celebrating Casual Day on Friday, 4 September 2026.

Casual Day is an annual campaign led by the National Council of and for Persons with Disabilities (NCPD), aimed at raising awareness and funds for programmes that support persons with disabilities.

The 2026 campaign celebrates unity, shared momentum and the unique rhythm that every person brings towards building an inclusive society.

By participating in Casual Day, Lephalale Local Municipality staff demonstrated their support for inclusion, equality and the empowerment of persons with disabilities.
