New Dawn for Njhakanjhaka village as they celebrate State-of-the-Art School:

Today, the Mayor of Collins Chabane Local Municipality, Cllr Shadrack Maluleke, joined the Limpopo MEC for Education, Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya, for the official handover ceremony of newly built Vutivi Primary School in Njhaka-Njhaka Village. The handover of Vutivi Primary School is part of the Department of Education's ongoing commitment to building new schools, improving school infrastructure across the province and typically focusing on providing state of the art facilities and replacing dilapidated schools. Mayor Maluleke praised the MEC for including Collins Chabane Municipality as a beneficiary of this ongoing project. 'We thank the MEC for this initiative, which aims to build the state of the art schools, enhance the standard of education in the province by reducing classroom overcrowding and providing superior learning facilities. This is not just a school handover but an ongoing service delivery commitment under the leadership of our Premier, Dr Phophi Ramathuba,' said Mayor Maluleke."

The Collins Chabane Local Municipality distances itself from a fabricated poster circulating on various social media platforms. The post falsely claims that the Madlanga Commission is requesting tender documents from the municipality.

This fraudulent post has been digitally altered to appear legitimate, aiming to mislead the public. The Municipality categorically denies this claim and condemns this malicious attempt to undermine our dedication to transparency and good governance.

The Municipality encourages all its citizens to continue working with in unity to champion service delivery.

The Mayor of Collins Chabane Local Municipality, Cllr Shadrack Maluleke, has today welcomed thousands of residents to the Saselamani Stadium for a vibrant Freedom Day celebration. In his opening remarks, Mayor Maluleke acknowledged community leaders and stakeholders present to honor the significant milestone. The event, held under the theme ‘Freedom and the Rule of Law - Thirty Years of Democratic Citizenship’, was addressed by the Premier of Limpopo, Dr. Phophi Ramathuba, who delivered the keynote address. The celebration reflected on thirty years of democracy, highlighting the journey toward social justice and the importance of safeguarding the Constitution within local communities. In attendance were various government MECs, the Executive Mayor of Vhembe District Municipality, Cllr Fredah Nkondo, along with local mayors, Hosi Xikundu, and other traditional leaders.

The Mayor of Collins Chabane Local Municipality, Cllr Shadrack Maluleke, and the MEC for Sport, Arts, and Culture, Hon. Jerry Maseko, received a formal briefing today regarding the final preparations for the Freedom Day celebrations. The event is scheduled to take place tomorrow, 27 April 2026, at Saselamani Stadium.
In addition to the briefing, both the Mayor and the MEC paid a courtesy visit to the Xikundu Traditional Council, where they engaged in productive one on one deliberations with Hosi Xikundu and his council. The provincial celebration will be officially addressed by the Premier of Limpopo, Dr Phophi Ramathuba.

Mayor Shadrack Maluleke of the Collins Chabane Local Municipality set aside all official duties this Sunday to mourn and celebrate the life of Xitsonga music legend, Kenny Bevhula with all the residents of Bevhula village and Limpopo at large.

“We had many organisational commitments today,” the Mayor stated. “However, I informed my team that I would dedicate this Sunday to celebrating Mr Bevhula’s life. In times like these, we must stay close to our people. That is why I am here today, just as I have been throughout the past week.”

When people discuss the cultural heart of Collins Chabane, Kenny Bevhula’s name will always at the forefront. He was an extraordinary figure whose legacy will be celebrated for generations. We will continue to play his music, which transcended simple lyrics to offer profound life lessons and masterful storytelling. May his humble soul rest in eternal peace.

Cllr Shadrack Maluleke, Mayor of the Collins Chabane Local Municipality, spoke on behalf of the government at the funeral of Mr Helani Dennis Manganyi. The service was held in Mahonisi Village within the Collins Chabane sub-region. Mr Manganyi was a dedicated community educator and a long-serving, loyal member of the SADTU union. Mayor Maluleke urged the community of Mahonisi to emulate the well lived life of Mr Manganyi as an Educator and a community leader. “Mr Manganyi leaves behind a powerful legacy as a committed educator and a stalwart of the South African Democratic Teachers' Union (SADTU) and he must be celebrated everyday. Today we pay our heartfelt tribute to the man who dedicate his life to the noble task of educating our nation, a man who was not only a transmitter of knowledge but an architects of our collective future.

Mayor Shadrack Maluleke visits Kenny Bevhula’s home to pay his respects:

Mayor of Collins Chabane Local Municipality, Cllr Shadrack Maluleke, visited the home of the late Xitsonga music legend Kenny Bevhula, who passed away on Sunday, 19 April. Mayor Maluleke described Bevhula as a "son of the soil" who dedicated his voice to spreading messages of peace and love.“The whole Collins Chabane Local Municipality and the country mourns this talented icon. His music did not only put South Africa on the global stage but could be heard in the streets, the valleys, and every corner of our country. It was music for the whole family,” said Mayor Maluleke. “On behalf of people of Collins Chabane ,the provincial government and the entire nation, we wish to convey our deepest condolences on the passing of this cultural hero. His loss is the nation's loss. We will always remember his name and we want to thank the Bevhula family for sharing with us their son. May his soul rest in peace.” The Mayor was joined by the Chief Whip of the Municipality Cllr Erick Baloyi, Speaker Cllr Thina Mbedzi, Councillors and Members of Executive Committee.

Mayor Shadrack Maluleke has visited various families within the Collins Chabane Local Municipality following the tragic passing of their loved ones. Among the families visited was the Maceke family in Nyavani village, who lost Ntiyiso Maceke, an orphan who was stabbed to death on Sunday, 19 April 2026. “The killing of Ntiyiso Maceke is heartbreaking. Our deepest condolences go out to the family, colleagues, friends, and loved ones, as well as all residents of the Nyavani community who are struggling with this loss. Words cannot fully express the sorrow we feel or the care we hold for those who are grieving, and we believe that the South African Police Service will work tirelessly to ensure that the perpetrator receives the punishment he deserves,” stated Mayor Maluleke. The Mayor was joined by the Speaker of the Municipality, Cllr Thina Mbedzi; Chief Whip, Cllr Erick Baloyi; ward councillors; and members of the Executive Committee.

Today, the Mayor of Collins Chabane Local Municipality, Cllr Shadrack Maluleke, joined the MEC for Social Development, Mme Florence Radzilani, on a courtesy visit to the Nndwa family in Masakona Village.

This visit comes in the wake of the tragic passing of Mulalo Nndwa. A committed student at the University of the Free State, Mulalo was just steps away from graduating with her Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning. Her death is a profound loss for her family and a blow to the future of our province, which has lost a bright, rising professional.

Following Mulalo’s death, the Department of Social Development is providing psychosocial support to help the bereaved family and two young children navigate their immense grief. An initial evaluation of the family’s emotional, social, and practical needs was conducted to ensure the children receive ongoing care.

The departmental social workers are working closely with the family to assist in the adjustment of roles and responsibilities during this difficult transition.

Our thoughts and prayers remain with the Nndwa family and Masakona community. Rest in peace, Mulalo.

Mayor Shadrack Maluleke will visit the family of the University of Free State student, Nndwa Mulalo, who passed away on university premises on Friday shortly before her graduation:

The Mayor of Collins Chabane Local Municipality Cllr Shadrack will this afternoon visit the family of the University of Free State student, Nndwa Mulalo, passed away after collapsing on university premises on Friday shortly before her master’s graduation ceremony was set to begin.

Nndwa Mulalo was the resident of Ha-Masakona village, under the Collins Chabane Local Municipality.

“As the Municipality, we are deeply saddened by the untimely and tragic passing of our daughter, sister and a friend, Nndwa Mulalo. I will be joining the MEC for Social Development, Manana Florence Radzilani who will also be coming to pay courtesy visit to the family this afternoon”

“We have lost one of our most promising young leaders who had a strong grasp of the value of education in our country and beyond. She was among the committed and sensible young people with a devoted sense of development to the people of Collins Chabane and Limpopo at large hence she was doing her Masters in Urban and Regional Planning”

Our heartfelt condolences go out to her family, her friends and, the Collins Chabane community all others who are grieving her untimely death.

May her soul rest in peace.
