COLLINS CHABANE LOCAL MUNICIPALITY WARNS JOB SEEKERS OF SCAM:

The Collins Chabane Local Municipality urges the public to be aware and vigilant of a job scam.

The scammers claim they can secure people employment at the Municipality in exchange for a payment.

The scammers were apparently calling their victims and claiming that they got their contact details from municipality’s database. The job seekers were then instructed to do a cash-send or Ewallet.

Residents are urged not to share any personal information or pay any money to individuals claiming to offer employment in exchange for a fee.

We urge the public to not react to these scam offers of employment from the people claiming to work for, or to be associated with the Municipality.

The Municipality strongly condemns this planned illegal activity and further urge anyone with information or who might have been confronted by the alleged scammers to report fraud and related incidents to the police.

Should anyone encounter such illegal activity, please report it to the Municipality on 015 851 0110 immediately.

The Collins Chabane Local Municipality, represented by Councillor Freedah Nkondo on behalf of the Mayor, donated food parcels, blankets, mattresses, and other essential goods to the Hanani Drop-in Centre in Vuwani. This outreach event concluded Mandela Month activities, which were dedicated to spending 67 minutes serving and uplifting the local community. This generous handover marked the official conclusion of Mandela Month. The initiative embodied the enduring spirit of Ubuntu and Nelson Mandela’s global call to action, encouraging public leaders and citizens alike to dedicate their time and resources to help vulnerable groups. Other leaders of the Municipality present was the Speaker of the Municipality, Cllr Thina Mbedzi, Executive committee members Cllr Pertunia Mahlaule and Sydney Thovhakale, Local councillor Davhana Tshoteli and Senior Manager for Corporate services, Ms Daphney Moselankoe.

Collins Chabane Municipality Honours Boxer Akani Sambo at Farewell Gala Dinner:

The Collins Chabane Local Municipality, in partnership with the Limpopo Boxing Champions, is hosting a farewell gala dinner today to honor and wish good luck to Collins Chabane-born WBF Intercontinental Bantamweight Champion, Akani Sambo. He won the vacant title on October 1, 2023, by defeating Joshua Studdard via a 12-round split decision at Vodaworld in Pretoria. Sambo successfully retained his belt about a year later by outpointing Tanzanian challenger John Chuwa. On June 27, 2025, he secured win over tough competitor Sabelo Cebekhulu during the "Survival of the Fittest" tournament at the Khoroni Hotel Casino in Thohoyandou. On July 31, he is scheduled to headline the World Kings Boxing Tournament at the University of Venda Stadium against Alvin Camique) from the Philippines. Sambo , a resident of Gija-Mhandeni under the Collins Chabane Local Municipality is under Limpopo champions boxing promotion led by phathutshedzo Dongola. Mayor, Cllr Shadrack Maluleke, will close the Gala Dinner by delivering a keynote address.

Collins Chabane Local Municipality Mayor, Cllr Shadrack Maluleke, today presided over the handover of awards to various choral music groups at the Dr. S.J. Khosa Choral Music Eisteddfod held at the municipal town hall in Malamulele. The event features a wreath-laying ceremony, a SAPS safety awareness campaign, and a singing competition where top-performing choirs receive awards. This is an annual event which is celebrated every year in remembrance of Dr Shalati Joseph Khosa, or SJ as he was affectionately known by his family, friends and the choral music fraternity, who was born in Xihosani village , on the banks of the Shingwedzi River near the present Malamulele township in the Vhembe district of Limpopo Province in South Africa.

The Mayor of Collins Chabane Municipality, Cllr Shadrack Maluleke, arrived at the 2026 Sixth Edition of Dr SJ Khosa Choral Music Eisteddfod festival which is underway in Malamulele, at the Municipality hall. This is an annual event which is celebrated every year in remembrance of Dr Shalati Joseph Khosa, or SJ as he was affectionately known by his family, friends and the choral music fraternity, who was born in Xihosani village , on the banks of the Shingwedzi River near the present Malamulele township in the Vhembe district of Limpopo Province in South Africa. The event is divided into three sections comprised of Wreath Laying Ceremony, SAPS Safety Awareness Campaign and Music Choir known as Dr SJ Khosa Music Eisteddfod. Various choirs will be competing in a singing competition, and choirs that perform exceptionally well will receive awards. The Mayor is joined by members of the Executive Committee.

The Mayor of Collins Chabane Local Municipality Cllr Shadrack Maluleke has tonight delivered the keynote speech address at the 6th Eisteddfoid Gala Dinner and Choral Music festival in Thohoyandou ,Khoroni Hotel, in honour of the late highly prolific choral music composer Dr Shalati Joseph Khosa (SJ). Dr Khosa who hails from Merwe Village in Collins Chabane successful composed Eight Hundred and Fifty songs that are being played and studied in the Universities across the country. "His music brought people together in celebration of life, a kind of war-cry, as well as bringing people together in a common consciousness and his lyrical content of the music was cosmopolitan and universal and always told the story of "one human family under one heaven" says Mayor Maluleke. Mayor Maluleke also presided over the handing-over of awards to the honoured sponsors and role players of the event. The remaining proceedings of the SJ Khosa Choral festival will take place in Malamulele, Municipality Town Hall on the 25th of July 2026(Tomorrow).

NO TO GENDER BASED VIOLENCE

Mayor of Collins Chabane Local Municipality, Cllr Shadrack Maluleke has today joined the World Kings Boxing “No to GBVF” march in Thohoyandou ahead of the boxing tournament which is scheduled to take place on the 31st of July 2026, in Thohoyandou. The 7km walk which started and ended at the University of Venda was attended by the MEC for Social Development, Hon Florence Radzilani ,Vhembe District Municipality Representative of the Mayor; Mayor of Thulamela Local Municipality, Cllrs. Rambuda, the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture; SAPS; Pastors Forum; Limpopo Boxing Champs Promotions; Prof. Angie Maphula Foundation; GBVF structures; schools and a multitude of sponsors such as NTT Toyota Thohoyandou; Avbob and Khoroni Hotel.
