Paving works are progressing in Steenbok .The project entails the upgrading of approximately 3km of internal streets, upgrading the surfaces from gravel to paved road.

Meke meke, a land locked village that has been badly affected by the recent floods was visited by both our Disaster Management Team and Gift of the Givers .Disaster relief material in the form of food parcels were distributed to the affected families.
Distribution of disaster relief material is on going and a number of affected villages will be reached out.

🌱♻️ Recyclers & Environmental Career Guidance Workshop

The impactful 2-day Recyclers and Environmental Career Guidance Workshop, kicked off at the Block C Community Hall and concluded today at Schoemansdal Community Hall.

The workshop brought together various stakeholders who shared valuable insights about their roles, responsibilities, and career opportunities within the environmental sector. Learners in attendance were empowered with knowledge on recycling, environmental management, conservation, and sustainable development.

Stakeholders who participated and presented are EDM, KOBWA, Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs, PETCO, Bambanani, Kruger National Park (KNP), Inkomati Usuthu Catchment Agency, and Nkomazi Buyback Centres

Together, we are shaping a greener, more sustainable future for our community. 🌍💚

The Driekoppies Water Treatment Works is still not operating at full capacity due to poor water quality following the collapse of Etiyeni dam.

Areas affected are Schoemansdal, Jeppes Reef, Buffelspruit, Driekoppiess, Magogeni, Boschfontein and Aniva .
As part of the process to restore the Water Treatment Works to its full operational capacity the plant will be shut down tomorrow to allow the thorough cleaning of all affected components. Once the cleaning process is completed there will be a vast improvement on bulk water supply.

Driekoppies;
The Executive Mayor Cllr PP Magagula accompanied by the Ward Councilor Cllr VW Mhlongo, Circuit Manager Mrs MT Khoza, Bukhosi bakaMatsamo, and the SGB delivered 70 pairs of school shoes and a multi color printer to Magubha Primary School as part of the back to school program.
The entourage also interacted with the School Management Team.

Scholar Transport Monitoring | Mkhuhlu

In the early hours of the morning, MEC Thulasizwe Thomo conducted a scholar transport monitoring operation alongside the Departmental Transport Inspectorate Unit. The operation focused on ensuring that learners are transported safely to school and that vehicles, particularly those operated by public transport providers, are roadworthy and compliant.

The operation took place in and around Mkhuhlu. MEC said the Department will continue to intensify efforts across the province by increasing visibility and prioritising the safety of public transport users on the roads.

Today, the MEC for Public Works, Roads and Transport Mr Thulasizwe Thomo visited Nkomazi Local Municipality to formally introduce two contractors appointed for the rehabilitation of Road D2940 (Phiva-Mdladla), covering a distance of 9 km, and Road D2950 (Steenbok–Ngwenyeni), covering a distance of 13,4 km. Construction on both projects is expected to commence within the next few months.

Ehlanzeni District : Road Maintenance

The Driekoppies Cost Centre in Nkomazi is currently undertaking routine road maintenance, with grading works underway on road D2944 and soil removal in progress on road D2943, as part of ongoing efforts to improve road conditions and ensure safer access for road users.
