The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Johannesburg Subregion A have extended their condolences to the Mjali family, pledging unwavering commitment to securing justice on their behalf.
Minenhle Lilitha Mjali, a twenty-two-year-old South African woman, met a tragic and violent end in Noordwyk, Midrand, Gauteng, in the early hours of the 18th of April 2026. It is alleged that whilst visiting her boyfriend’s residence, he summoned three associates, whereupon the four men proceeded to sexually assault and subsequently strangle her.
Her remains were not discovered until the 24th of April 2026 — a full week later — concealed beneath a bed and encased in plastic sheeting, in an advanced state of decomposition, following an anonymous police tip-off. Most distressingly, her mother was not informed of this discovery for yet another week. When she confronted the boyfriend directly, he is reported to have displayed a complete and callous absence of remorse.
All four suspects, inclusive of the boyfriend, were arrested and brought before the court on the 5th of May 2026, facing charges of murder and related offences. One among them has since agreed to testify as a state witness.
The matter is scheduled to be heard before the Alexandria Court 3 on the 17th of May 2026 as the pursuit of justice for Minenhle Mjali continues.
